These past few weeks I had been finally feeling like I had adjusted to the place. Jaehyun and I had started talking a little bit. However, we both had busy schedules and didn't know when we would have much free time. So I hadn't talked to him in a few days.

I walked into work, looking at Laura who was asleep on the bench of the resident's lounge. I smiled, tickling her neck. She shot up.

"Clipping the aneurysm" She mumbled. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"So you're meaning to tell me that you worked all night in surgery and you're still working now?" I asked. She nodded.

"I uh... I can't feel my legs. I was just in a twelve-hour surgery and I still have 6 more hours of my shift." She said. I sighed, feeling bad.

"Here. You can have my coffee." I mumbled, handing it to her. She sighed.

"I'm in love with you right now." She said, chugging it down.

"So who's service are you on today?" She asked. I was about to answer when Dr. Williams walked in.

"Alright we got a trauma coming in.  Jones, Clark, Janssen, Choi you're with me," Williams called. I looked around.

"Who's Jones?" I mumbled to myself.

"He's a fifth-year resident," Laura answered for me. Just then a strong force pushed me to the side.

"Slow down Jones! The trauma isn't going anywhere" Daniel yelled. I laughed. He never looked back as he continued to run down the stairs.

"Jerk," I mumbled, as we all ran down to the ER. To my luck, Dr. Gonzalez walked up to us.

"Uh, can I borrow a resident?" He said. Daniel, Laura, and this guy names Jones all gasped. They all scrambled over to him as I stood and watched from a distance. Then, he peered over to the side.

"Dr. Janssen! I haven't gotten to work with you yet. Come with me!" He said. I chuckled, waving goodbye at the other residents.

"Thank you so much for this opportunity Dr. Gonzalez,"  I mumbled. I couldn't help but sound like a teenage girl who was talking to her celebrity crush. Because it was almost the same scenario. See, Dr. Gonzalez was a famous Cardiothoracic surgeon. He is one of the youngest surgeons to successfully remove a Cardiac Sarcoma from an infant. And his face was definitely not bad to look at. Not bad at all.

"I'm excited to work with you too. I want to see if you have what it takes to be in Cardio. If you're hardcore enough." He said. I scoffed.

"I have been through hell my entire life. I am perfectly hardcore enough for this." I boasted. He nodded.

"All right. We have a catheter procedure in an hour. First, go run tests." He said. I nodded, walking into the patient's room.

"Hello, Mr. Arnold. I'm Dr. Janssen, the resident on your case. Do you mind if I listen to your heart really quickly?" I asked. He nodded.

"M-my hands always get sweaty in hospitals. It's so weird." He mumbled. I smiled.

"It actually happens a lot. But don't worry. Dr. Gonzalez is great at what he does and he has done this procedure many times."  I assured. He bit his lip.

"He's gonna thread a catheter up my leg all the way up to my heart?" He asked. I nodded.

"B-but I'll be out...right? I won't feel it?" He asked.

"Yeah. You'll be asleep. Won't remember a thing." I said. He sighed.

"Ivory-billed woodpecker." He mumbled. I stared at him confused.
