The night shift. The most exhausting yet exhilarating shift a surgeon could have. The night shift either works two ways; it's a silent night where you just stay up all night, checking in on patients who had surgeries in the day. Or it is a busy night filled with drunk drivers who made stupid decisions or burn victims from random fires in the night. Tonight, it was a little of both.

I woke up to the loud sound of my alarm. I rushed out of my apartment to see my neighbor walking to his door.

"Ah, Camilla. Off to your night shift?" He asked. I chuckled.

"Yep. I'm assuming you just got back home?" I asked. He nodded.

"Ready for a good night's sleep. Goodnight!" He said. I walked away.

"Yeah but it's the morning for me," I mumbled.

I got to the hospital to see some of the attendings gathered in a circle. I walked up to Laura.

"What's going on, a party?" I joked. She laughed, yawning.

"No. I think they're just about to lecture us about leaving them with their patients." She said. I nodded.

"Clark, was that a yawn? Did you just yawn!?" Gonzalez asked Laura. She looked down.

"Don't tell us that you guys are tired after getting to sleep all day," Williams said. She sighed

"It's not as easy as it looks." She mumbled. I chuckled. Dr. Campbell scoffed.

"Not easy? When I was a resident, I actually worked for a living. I did every other night call for five years." Williams explained. I internally rolled my eyes. You know how you feel when you get the 'when I was your age' lecture? Yeah, this is exactly like that.

"There were days that I wouldn't go home for 72 hours. I loved it." Campbell said. Caleb scoffed.

"As you trudged through the snow during the Revolutionary war while you whittled your own scalpels," he mumbled. Daniel, Laura, and I held in our laughter.

"Alright so Laura you're on Gonzalez post-ops, Jones and Janssen you two are in the ER. Choi and Brown, you are on Turner's post-ops. If you need any help, Dr. Jung is on call, somewhere in this hospital." Williams said. I felt my face light up when I heard Jaehyun's name. I don't know why, but ever since the day we were dancing in the rain, I couldn't stop thinking about him.

"Alright, Dr. Clark try not to screw up anything. I like my cardio wing just the way I like it. And if you have any questions, ask Janssen. She'll know what to do." Gonzalez said. I smiled. I knew they hated it but I loved being a teacher's pet. A woman and a toddler walked up to him.

"Oh, Janssen this is my wife, Natalie. And my son Nicholas, Nicky for short." He said. I smiled, shaking her hand.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Camilla." I said. She smiled.

"I know who you are. My husband talks about you like a proud father. You are his prized student." She explained. I felt my cheeks burn up.

"And hello to you too, cutie." I cooed, bending down to ruffle Nicky's hair. He smiled.

"My name is Camilla," I said. He giggled.

"Camel!" he mumbled, causing Gonzalez to laugh.

"Well, we have to run. We're meeting up with family. But don't worry, next time you see Nicky, he'll be able to say your name." Natalie said. I waved goodbye to the cute little family. Laura scoffed.

"Damn he introduced you to his wife. He really is a proud father." She joked. I rolled my eyes, walking up to Caleb.

"Ok Jones, Janssen. Hah, you two have the same initials. Besides the point. Follow me." Campbell said. We exchanged looks, trying hard not to laugh.
