Deeks hadn't gone to sleep and it was close to 1am when kensi started shaking and saying thing quietly but loud enough for him to hear "no, no please" when he heard this He knew she was having a nightmare. "kens" he tried to wake her up. She sat straight up with tears running down her face "kens come here it was just a dream your ok" Deeks tried to reassure her. She snuggled up as close to him as she could get and tried to calm herself down. After about 10 minutes of deeks holding kensi while she was crying he sat her up "kens..." she wiped tears from her eyes that were now red and puffy "are you ok" he asked her with a hand on her arm. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath "I... I don't know Deeks" her voice was shaky "I have nightmares almost every night, sometimes I hardly sleep" Deeks looked at her hoping she would go on knowing it takes alot for kensi blye to open up to someone. "I didnt ask for this, I didn't ask to go to Afghanistan" she started to cry again and deeks brushed the hair away from her face, he didn't take his eyes off her once "I'm so sorry kens" Deeks felt so much pain for kensi, he knew it was his fault. Nothing had happened that night they ate ice cream and told stories from their childhood, but the thing was they opened up to each other and that changed them. he looked at her as another tear fell from her eye "I relive it every time I close my eyes, I just want to forget it all" Deeks swallowed hard "kens" she looked up and met his gaze "we all have a demons, some are worse than others, and sometimes we can never find a way around them... Not... Alone we can't sometimes we just need a friend to help us and you helped me, you help me everyday" he grabbed her hands "let me help you" kensi's sobs turned to sniffles and she tried to smile at deeks. He saw the pain in her eyes and just pulled her close to him and listened to the sound of her breath until they both fell asleep
