"Is it from the Luna?" I asked.
    "Yes."
I paused. A lot was going through my mind. Was she the one who "hired" the fake contractor? Why? Did she leave?
"Does it have anything to do with Frank?" I asked
"It only says she's leaving, but she's the one who called. She works a lot on my stuff. If the call's not directly to another alpha she's the one who makes it."
"Why do you think she did all this? She killed her son."
"I'm guessing Mason wasn't supposed to be there. He's still working on things with Connor. There is something you should know. Victoria's a pure wolf. She comes from an old line. I thought she didn't agree with them, but she has been talking to her family a lot lately."
"Do you think they converted her?"
"What else. The Victoria I know wouldn't do this without cause."
"Why would she want me dead."
"She's been really angry that you left Mason.  Especially after he's been working so hard with Connor.  Your babies have the potential to be the most powerfully diverse were's out there. Traditionalists and purists have both been talking a lot." A traditionalist is someone who believes in the sanctity of the mate bond.
"So she was willing to commit murder because she was mad at me?"
"One of the consequences of a pure family line is mental illness.  There are only so many pure family lines left, and as a consequence they've all inbred a little.  Victoria is impulsive.  That's why Mason was."
I digest that for a while before asking, "So what happens now?"
"I call the council, and send a spy to infiltrate the purists."
"Do you have any pure Were's in the pack?" I ask.
"No but Carlos is moving into the pack next week. Victoria doesn't know about him yet. He's worked undercover before. He's not a pure panther, but they won't know that."
