"Grabe, sobrang aga naman ng call time," Esther exclaimed while we were walking in the hallway to the gymnasium. She even rubbed her eyes and yawned. "May tao na kaya sa gym?" she added with a frown.
I glanced at her and I saw her pouting her lips. Nagaya naman ako sa hikab niya so I covered my mouth. "I'm not sure," I said and sighed. "Ang lamig," I commented on the cold weather. Today has a cloudy morning, and I thought maybe it would rain later.
"Super! Good thing nag-jacket ako," Esther hugged herself while I put my hands together and rubbed it.
I thank myself that I chose to wear my pink cardigan above our student press uniform. Anyway, it's the university president's birthday today kaya naman pwede kaming magsuot ng organization shirt kasi hindi naman regular class. I silently hope na wala na talagang magklase mamayang hapon.
"By the way, okay na ba 'yang paa mo, Ceska?" Esther suddenly asked me while she was checking out my feet.
"Ahh, medyo okay naman na..." I nodded my head to convince her. "Hindi na kumikirot. Naipitan lang ng ugat," I added.
"I heard what happened. Bakit ba kasi nadulas ka?" I could hear her worry through her voice. Esther clung her arms on me. Siguro para na rin alalayan akong lumakad kasi medyo iika-ika pa ang lakad ko.
"May hinabol kasi ako."
"Si Lucas?" She stated. I knew it wasn't a question so I nodded my head. "Let me guess. Siguro kaya mo siya hinabol kasi you wanted to apologize for not greeting him a happy birthday last Saturday? Tama ba ako?" She prompted with her teasing tone.
I nodded my head again and both sides of my lips instantly fell, giving me a sad face. "Honestly, I didn't know it was his birthday, and I was also busy that time," I mumbled but Esther heard it.
"That was what we thought." Esther leaned her head on my shoulder while we were walking. "We knew that could be the reason why he was acting such a douche for ignoring our dm's." she continued to complain.
"We? Our?" I looked at her with my knitted eyebrows.
"Yup! We, means Ben and me," she chuckled. We..?
I stopped walking so did she. My eyes narrowed at her as she looked straight at me.
"What?" Esther innocently asked me. She even shrugged her shoulders.
"Nagchachat kayo ni Ben?"
"We do. Bakit? Kayo ba hindi nagchachat" She sounded as if she's defending herself.
"We do too, but seldom. I would say when he wants to annoy me?" We walked again after I told her that.
Esther laughed softly and shook her head. "He always has a way to annoy people..."
I looked at her, and she had this quick flustered face so I chuckled. "And you like it?" I teased her.
"No way! Why would I like that naman? No!" She blew air and fanned herself using her free hand.
"I only asked you if you like it, bakit naman ganyan ang reaksyon mo?" I laughed at her.
"Duh? Bakit ka ganyan? Of course nagulat ako sa tanong mo. Why would you ask that, right?" Esther shook her head.
"Because I wanted to know if you enjoy your petty fights with Ben? Or if you like—"
"I don't like him!"
