Chapter 28: Comatose

Today is another uneventful day of weekdays. I suddenly missed the intramural week. It was fun experiencing the university intramural anyway, although it was tiring. One thing that's good is because I am part of the publication, but I am sure those are part of other student organizations have enjoyed it too.
Another consideration, today is the end of my sleepless night because the preliminary exams has finished. I didn't want to cram but I ended up cramming because I had to rest my brain last weekend. I don't really want to force myself to review when I'm tired, so I am grateful that I used to read my notes every night after it was discussed. It helped a lot, I swear.
Sadly, I look at the sky. It is already noon but the sun is nowhere to be found. Gray massive clouds cover the great horizon, and in a moment I thought it would rain. I hugged myself and rubbed my arms before I rubbed my palms together. I can feel the cold air prickly embracing me especially on my legs because I only wear my PE uniform, shorts and shirt.
The weather makes me want to go home and cuddle my pillows until I fall asleep. Although I can do it, I have to go to the publication office to sort the remaining intramural flash copies, and I that we have an emergency meeting at one in the afternoon. I really have the urge to ditch it because my eyelids are getting heavier in every second. On the second thought, I will just ditch the meeting.
"Hoy pokangkang!"
"May meeting!" I startled when Eric suddenly grabbed my elbows that even though I didn't see it was him, I knew it was him. Boringly, I turned my head at him. "Ba't ba nanggugulat ka?"
"Oops, suhri ha? Nakita kasi kitang nakatulalang naglalakad kaya nilapitan kita. Ang sungit talaga." He rolls his eyes at me but he moves beside me so we can walk together. "Pupunta ka sa meeting mamaya?"
I heaved a sigh and glanced at Eric. "Look at me eyes, I just want to go home to sleep so I'm considering to excuse myself in the meeting."
Eric looks at me with invisible pity as he nods his head. "Ako rin naman dahil hindi lang ikaw ang may prelim but I will attend the meeting later. Tamad na 'to, tara at umattend tayo!"
I touched my ponytail and fixed it. I also brushed my bangs down smoothly. "Ikaw na lang. Seriously, I don't feel well. Paki sabi na lang sa kanila that I go home early."
"Oh siya sige. Hatid na kita sa sakayan?" Eric's voice filled with worry and it feels warm to hear it.
"Thank you, sis, but I can handle myself. Wala ka na bang class later this afternoon?"
"Okay sige," he nods at me. "Wala na, tapos na ang prelim namin pwede na rin akong magpahinga pero aattend ako ng meeting hindi katulad ng iba d'yan." I laughed at his meaningful tone.
"Oo na, ako na ang hindi aattend. Hindi lang talaga ako okay. I have this weird feeling that makes me sad thus I want to sleep." I look at the sky again after telling it to Eric.
"Sus, palusot! Char!" He chuckles before his expression changes into a gloomy one. "Actually, I feel you. Siguro sa weather, kasi mukhang uulan na naman," he nods his head, agreeing with me.
"Yes. Oh anyway! Congrats nga pala!" They won the volleyball kasi. We haven't seen each other the whole week kaya ngayon ko lang nasabi.
"Thanks sis," he smiles at me. "Sure ka ba na hindi ka na kita sasamahan sa sakayan?" He asks me again so I smile at him and nod my head, convincing him that I can handle myself.
