Chapter 37: Perseverance

I cannot believe today is our last day here in Pangasinan. When I've woken up last morning, it feels like my body refuses to process that it is already Sunday and tonight we will be going back home. Although I kind of felt homesick and I missed Bulacan so much, Pangasinan have seemed to be giving me memories that would forever engraved in my mind. I've gotten to know more my TGC close friends and I've got to meet amazing people who are incredibly good at journalism.
Yesterday when we arrived here at the hotel, we only ate lunch and continued to listen to the remaining speakers. My mind is full of new learnings about Journalism and societal development and issues our country have been facing since then.
Truth be told, Lucas didn't let me leave his side. I thought it was unbelievable but he never free my wrist! He was holding it under the table the entire time we were listening to the seminar, and he only let me go it when he had to excuse himself to get some water. Of course, I made it a point to ask him and thankfully I did when we were walking in the hallway of the second floor after we attended dinner.
I thought, "Why did you have to hold me? It's not like I'm running away."
"I just wanna do it," was his answer. Yes, 'yon na 'yon.
"Paano kung may nakakita?"
"Edi nakita nila." Lucas looked at me. "Were you worried if someone could see me holding you?" His eyebrows twitched in the middle.
"Were you not scared?" I asked him back, and my eyes had an involuntary blinking while I gazed at him. Lucas was looking intently at me too, but the difference was I had no idea what was on his head. I always wished I knew what he thought.
"No," he answered finally. "Ceska, I don't fear of being caught holding you, because it's not like we were holding hands. It was just me who held you in your wrist," he said without a blink in his expressive eyes. It's like he wanted to ask me something but he bit his tongue from slipping it out.
When I thought he noticed I saw his emotion, he closed his eyes and shook his head before throwing a deep sigh. I was suddenly confused of what emotions he had just showed me. I thought he wasn't scared?
"Really, I wasn't scared, you have to believe me," Lucas reiterated himself. I know my face is telling him I do not believe it. "I was just... just... I was," I waited for him to find the exact words but when he was about to say it, kuya Tommy and ate Roxie arrived in the same floor.
"Oh bakit nasa labas pa kayo?" Kuya Tommy asked us, looking at me and Lucas.
"I had to tell something kay Lucas, kuya Tommy," I answered. Tumabi ako sa gilid ni Lucas para makadaan ang dalawa naming seniors.
"Sige, pumasok na lang kayo sa rooms n'yo kapag tapos na kayong mag-usap," sabi ni ate Roxie.
When the two entered their respective rooms, akala ko makakapag-usap pa kami ni Lucas kaso dumaan naman sina kuya Clark at kuya Adam, then right after them sina kuya Aaron at kuya Joshua naman.
"Hoy gabi na, pumasok na kayo sa room n'yo," kuya Joshua reminded us.
"Saka matulog kayo ng maaga because we have an early battle tomorrow," kuya Aaron added and chuckled. "Pero gagi, seryoso, matulog kayo ng maaga para marelax ang utak niyo para sa laban bukas."
"Yes, galingan natin para maunusan naman natin sa rank ang The Hunter," kuya Joshua told us.
"Sige po," sabay na lang namin na sinabi ni Lucas bago kami tuluyang iwanan nila kuya Aaron.
