Chapter 25: Intramural Pt.1

I woke up early in the morning to answer my brother's FaceTime call. He told me he'd be home this weekend. I said thank God, he'd be home but I asked him "do you still know the way home? Bro, it's been ages." I was so frantically aggravated because he'd waken me up earlier than I usually awaken, and he called me snappish again. I only thought he wouldn't come home this weekend which became his usual habit since he came to Manila for his hospital residency, and for the record I'd just asked him a simple question with a tiny opinion attached to it. Francisco Jose has annoyed me, what a great start of the day it is.
Another unusual day. The school is entirely busy because today is the start of the intramural. Even us in the publication will be very busy this whole freaking week. Alright, I will say that I am excited but honestly, I'm a little anxious of the number of people I will be engaging. Not that I am scared of them, I just easily get tired when I see and talk to many people beyond my league. Sana kung mga pinsan ko sila di'ba? But in the second thought, kapag may reunion naman I don't really talk to my cousins that I am not close to.
"Okay, guys. Sa mga wala pang cover ngayong araw, pwede na kayong mag-interview ng mga first year students ng iba't ibang department. Hindi pwede 'yung puro sa college n'yo lang ha. Tandaan, we are getting the student pulse. Alright!" Kuya Adam announces and he claps his hands together.
"Yes!" Sabay sabay naming sabi. We are all in the office, waiting to see our assigned sports na icocover for sports news sa intramural flash namin na ilalabas sa Facebook page ng publication, and we will be giving copies to every students after we finish the first day. Technically, everyday magpapamigay kami ng copy.
"Ceska, sa basketball ka, kasama mo akong magcocover!" Marisa beams while she casually tells it to me.
"Basketball? Who will take pictures?" I ask her. Lord, of all sports and games, why basketball? I asked at the back of my mind.
"Maglilibot-libot si kuya Aaron to take pictures pero magtake na lang din tayo in case may ma-miss siya na magandang shot." Marisa suggests and I nod my head.
"Guys tara na! Magcocover din kami ng opening program eh. 'Yung maiiwan, kung aalis din kayo maya-maya pakipatay yung aircon." Sabi ni kuya Adam na konti na lang maaaligaga na.
"Nasaan na sila Lucas? Kasama mo sila na magcocover nung opening." Paalala ni kuya Aaron kay EIC. That's when I noticed that Lucas and Ben are not here. My mind is a little preoccupied din kasi sa basketball na napunta sa amin ni Marisa. Good thing I know the basics, the rules and regulations of that game. Oh, yes, of course I do. I sighed.
"Kalma, Adam. Aaron, nandon na sila. Maaga silang nandito kanina. Sige na, pumunta ka na don, ako na bahala dito sa office." after kuya Tommy said that, kuya Adam hurriedly went out to go to the covered gymnasium.
"Si Esther?" I asked Marisa. She's getting ready to go out too. She put her backpack over her shoulders while I am checking my sling bag. I only brought my alcohol spray with me, my wallet, a pen and a small notebook that I bought in NBS. We have no classes today so I leave my things at home. I don't need it anyway.
"She's going to be late. This afternoon pa kasi ata ang schedule niya to cover the cheer dance competition." She says while we are walking to leave the office.
"What happened to her?" I ask as we walk down the hallway. When I see the light from the outside, I can say that it is nice and warm. The sun has already set in the east and its light is giving us the vibe of another good and calm weather; very wonderful sight to see ngayon may malaking event kami sa school. I thank God.
