"Okay, head to lunch, guys." Mr. Hernandez instructed. "Remember that they're doing Lock-Out today. If you're not back by the time that bell rings, go straight to the auditorium and get a late slip."

When I reached the cafeteria, I made the phone call and asked Mark for permission to tutor. He agreed but ordered that I got home by six. Jade and Meghan found me and we headed to the lunch line together.

As I waited patiently, my eyes scanned the lunch room for one particular student I knew had the same lunch period as I did.

"You're holding up the line," Meghan nudged me.

"Oh, I'm sorry," I punched in my ID number hastily.

"What were you thinking about?" Jade asked me as we settled at an empty table.

"I was looking at them," I nodded my head towards Aaron and his friends.

"Elle, I know you're nice and all but you sure you wanna help him?"

"Yes. He can't be that bad," I defended. "He was so grateful when I offered to help. He's actually nicer than I thought."

"Yeah, but it's still Aaron we're talking about."

I gave her a side look, "So, what? He's trying to pass."

"Just be careful 'cause he's really flirty."

Meghan nodded, "And remember how two faced he got when me and Matt broke up?" She huffed, "On top of that, he's part of O.K. He serves. Jade, tell me what was going through her mind?"

Jade shook her head, "Child, I don't know."

"So you need to make sure you don't get caught in his sauce or get shot either," Meghan joked.

"Relax, guys! Damn," I laughed.

"We just care about you Elle and you're getting involved with that kid."

"Alright, alright, I don't wanna talk about that anymore. Can I eat now?" There was nothing but beer and rotten milk in the refrigerator at home. We started to eat, each of them focused on their phones as they chewed. I forgot to charge my phone the night before, so I left mine alone. The only entertainment I had was straight ahead.

Aaron and his two friends were sitting at their official lunch table in the cafeteria. They seemed relaxed, laughing carelessly and joking at each other in their own little world.

Matt came off as the bodyguard of the group. Whenever a nígga tried his set, he'd be the first to stop Aaron from fighting. Matt's warm brown eyes and skin made him seem relaxed but I heard that he's more snappy and rude than all the boys combined.
