We drove for fifteen minutes after that; windows down and Built My Legacy booming through his car speakers. Aaron's lips moved with the rap while I kept quiet as the wind blew through my hair.

The trust I had for Jade decreased progressively the more I replayed the altercation. It was still clear, fresh in memory, as if I had a television screen and a rewind button in my mind. Deep down, I wished that Meghan didn't agree with her.

"I hope you know what you're doing because Aaron is just the same."

Is he?

Meghan told me that while she and Matt dated, she swore that they were falling in love. I thought they were too, but after they had sex, Matt moved on to the next one. But I don't think Aaron would stoop that low. Not after everything - he wouldn't go through all of this trouble just get into my pants. Aaron looks like the type to give up on a booty call after the first or second try. He's still here, as humiliating as it sounds.

Aaron eventually took an exit on the highway, bringing us to a small town where the cool air was salty and the blue ocean could be seen on the west coast. Authentic diners and mini markets lined the streets; the scent of grilled, spiced and fried food arousing my empty stomach.

As if he read my mind, Aaron glanced at me with a knowing smile. "I know you're not in such a good mood, so maybe food will make you feel better."

He slowed down to park in front of a small Puerto Rican restaurant. He held my hand the whole way inside before a Hispanic, old woman squealed and tackled Aaron with an unexpected embrace.

"Aaron!" she dropped her wash-cloth on the cash register and scampered around the front bar to him with open arms.

He let go of my hand and returned the hug heart fully.

The woman wore a bright rose in her hair that complimented the natural blush in her high cheek bones and red lips. Wrinkles adorn the sides of her lips and eyes. She had black, curly hair, friendly blue eyes, and a beautiful smile.

It wasn't a perfect Colgate smile, it was gentle and loving. The way she looked at Aaron made me wish that I still had my grandmother.

"Estas guapo! You look like a man - oh, you've gotten so tall! I see that you've continued to draw those feisimo pictures on your skin." she grimaces, eyes looking over the tattoos on Aaron's arms and neck. I didn't need to know Spanish to laugh at that.

"D'Angelo, Aaron is here! Ven y decir hola!" The old woman shouts over her shoulder. Customers glance our way to see what all the commotion is about.
