Meredith's POV
Feb 2007
Tuesday,
Me and Derek's relationship has been rocky ever since I drowned. He thinks I did it on purpose. God he says it so often I might as well just say I tried to drown myself. I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm walking on eggshells, but not around Derek around myself.
It's hard to explain.
I go back to work today I'm pretty excited I think it will be a good distraction.

I get to work early. I'm excited to be back. Everyone's looking at me funny, but it's fine. The day starts off slow and I start to get that weird feeling again.
I should find Derek.
I walked around for 10 minutes before I was paged and gave up my search. I got to the ambulance bay and assessed the man who came in. He had a GSW to the leg, so I had ortho paged. After I handled the guy with the GSW I went to do charts. I was tired and wanted something simple to do. So I updated charts.

Derek's POV
I had a successful surgery. As I'm leaving the OR I see Meredith sitting at the nurses station doing charts. I make my way towards her. When she sees me a smile creeps at the corners of her mouth.
"Hello Dr. Grey" I greet Meredith as I stand next to her at the nurses station.
"Hello Dr. Shepherd" she responded, she seemed a little off. I was going to pry but figured I probably shouldn't since I could ask her later. I gave her a kiss goodbye and went off to check up on my patients.
Towards the end of Meredith and Derek's shift (Derek's POV)
I am walking down the halls to the elevator not particularly paying attention as I walked. I probably should have because I found myself running into a nurse. She falls backwards a little.
"I'm so sorry I should have been watching where I was going" I apologize helping the nurse up.
"It's fine" she says as she walks to the elevator.
I walk to the elevator and we get into the elevator together. We make small talk for a while. Then she kisses me like full on kisses me. The nurse I just numbed into is kissing me. I try not to kiss back, but she's really going at it. Just as I start to kinda get into it Meredith pops into my brain and before I can move away the elevator opens revealing non other than Meredith Grey.

Meredith's POV
I am so tired this day has been exhausting. I head to the elevator and tap the button for down. The elevator comes quickly.
The doors open and I begin to walk in then I look up and see my boyfriend making out with a nurse.
"Derek?!" I blurt out unintentionally.
"Meredith?! It's not what it looks like" he quickly tries to dig himself out of the very deep hole he dug himself.
"Really Derek it's not! Then what is it?" I ask angrily waiting for a response I realize I'm not going to get, so I fill in the blanks.
"Ok Derek, so explain to me then what is it?! Because to me it looks like you are making out with Ellen Pompeo the freaking nurse!"
He stays silent, with that i stone the other way to the stairs. I need a drink. I need a drink so bad. I grab Cristina on my way out not explaining what's going on just telling her we're drinking, which she's fine with. The worst part is that the nurse looks like me it's not exact, but there's definitely a resemblance. Derek cheated on me with someone who looks like me.
