Meredith was in the ICU. She had undergone 13 surgeries in the last 2-3 months.

"Derek."
"Yes Mer?"
"Mm. What happened?"
"You pushed yourself to hard and cause your incision to burst."
"That means...."
"You might get a bigger infection, yes."
"No. I want to see Ellis. I haven't seen her except through safety glass."
"I know."
"She's my baby. And I can't see her."
"I know Mer. But it's for yours and her safety."
Meredith just cried. She only wanted to see her baby and the universe is smacking her down for it.

A couple of hours went by but to Meredith, it felt like days.

"Hey Mer!" Alex said coming in.
"Hey."
"How are you feeling?"
Meredith looked at him as if he just said the most idiotic thing ever.
"Dumb question sorry. On the bright side you get to stop wearing your arm and leg brace."
"Yeah I guess."
They sat in silence.
"Mommy!" Little Bailey said running in.
"Mm" Mer winced in pain as Bailey jumped on her.
"Bailey come here." Derek said.
"Umm why don't we go get some lunch?" Alex said to Zo and Bailey.
"Okay!"
"Bye mommy!"

As they left, Miranda walked in.
"Hey Grey. Can I take a look?"
"I mean sure. I can already tell you there is probably an infection, then you will say I can't see my baby for another 2 weeks."

"Well we don't know if we don't look."

Bailey lifted her gown.
"Aye would you look at that. No new infection. The one you already had is getting better but still there."
"That's good Mer." Derek said smiling.
Meredith wasn't looking. She had her head turned.
"Yeah, I guess."

2 hours later
"Hey so good news, the doctor said Ellis is strong enough to go home." Derek said

"That's great." Mer replied. She wasn't very enthusiastic about it.

Ellis would be a full time job. Especially without Mer. Meaning Derek would have to stay home most of the time.

Meredith was left alone. People would check on her but they had surgeries.

That night Mer was almost asleep. The doors opened.

"Derek?"
