Of course Meredith didn't listen to Bailey. She still pushed it. She was always in pain, but she wanted to see Ellis. Here and now.
Meredith fell while trying to get out of bed.
"Oww."
Derek had left to pick the kids up from Callie's.
After Mer got up, she continued to walk to the chair about ten feet away.
"Mer! Did you make it to there by yourself?"
Derek asked.
"Mhm."
He knew she wasn't supposed to be doing that yet but as long as she was ok then he let it slide.
"With no pain?"
"Uhh. Sure. I mean. Yeah."
"Meredith!"
"Uhh fine. No it hurt like hell. But I want my baby."
"Well get in bed. Bailey should be here any minute to check on you."

"Hello Meredith. You know the drill."
Bailey checked on Mer.
"Bailey had a shocked look on her face."
"What, what's wrong." Meredith said scared.
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Your infection. It's gone."
"What like really? Cause this isn't a funny joke if your joking."
"I'm not joking Meredith. You might get to see your baby later!"
"That's amazing."
"Only. If you can sit up and get out of bed with no pain. That is all I ask."
"I can sit up with no pain. Isn't that enough?"
"I'm sorry Meredith. Both done. Then Ellis."

"Hey. All it is, is putting weight on your legs and pushing yourself up. Then you can see her."
"Yeah. Ok."

For the rest of the day, Mer practiced getting up. The more she did it, the less she hurt.

Bailey came in to watch Mer get up without pain.
"I'm sorry Mer. You can't see her today." Bailey said.
She left Mer and Derek alone.
"I don't know. I finally get the chance to see her and the universe slaps me down."
"I know."
