Ming's pov:

The next day, we filed a report.

They were arrested on the same day and put in jail.

The trial was held a week later.

Of course the others weren't happy at all when they found out what i had done to get the evidence.

It took a lot of talking to convince them that this was the best way to get those bastards to confess everything.

In the end, they understood.

We all cried for a long time hugging each other tightly.

Three of the other victims came upto the witness stand and told the court what they had been through.

They were really shaky but they managed to tell everything.

And when the police investigated their companies, ut turned out they were also laundering money. That again added to their sentence.

They were sentenced to 35 years.

Still nothing compared to the amount of lives they had ruined but it was the court's ruling so we can't do anything about it.

After the trial, I got many texts from the other victims thanking me over and over again. They apologised for not being brave enough to come up in court themselves.

But i assured them that their signed testimonies already helped the case a lot.

When i came out of the courtroom that day, i felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my chest.

I felt free.

That was the only thing from my past which was weighing me down and now that i had gotten rid of it, i felt so much better.

I remember being able to sleep peacefully that night with a small smile on my face. Knowing that they got what they deserve.

It was the best sleep i had gotten in years.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when i heard knocking on the door.

"Come in." I called.

"Dr. Mingkwan. A patient has been brought in who needs your attention." A nurse came in.

I immediately shot up and quickly followed her out of my office.

"What's the condition of the patient?" I asked her as we made our way to the OT.

"He was in a fatal car crash. Parts from the car had stabbed him in the right thigh and left shoulder damaging a lot of nerves. He has 4 broken ribs and a fractured arm. He has suffered a concussion and was already unconscious when he was brought in. CT scans show a brain hemorrhage and a lot of internal bleeding." She read off the chart.

I nodded.

There was a woman sitting on one of the chairs infront of the OT. She was crying her eyes out.

"Are you the neurosurgeon?" She shot up when she noticed me.

"Yes i am." I answered.

"Please save him. I don't know what I'll do if something happens to him." She looked at me pleading.

"I'll do my best to save him. Please wait patiently."

I went into the OT.

"What's the name of the patient?" I asked as i got ready.
