Alex was immediately drawn to the shadow in the corner.

Alex glared at it and the shadow realised he noticed.
The rest of the unit seemed positively placid and keeping to themselves, wondering what must be going on, yet had not noticed the odd shadow.
Alex felt someone watching him, he spun around, smoothly making it look like he was just glancing back at his unit but the reality was him looking at the other corner behind the door and sure enough there was another out of place shadow. The lights in the room were fairly dim and some not working, as per usual, but it set him on edge. Looking back at the Sergeant, Alex deduced that he knew about the hidden people so he released some upbuilding tension inside him and relaxed a bit more. "Why are we here?" Alex asked.
