• Part 27 - January 5th •

Me and V sat in another boring class.

Our hands aching from writing all day.

"So Lyd...when's your birthday? Is it in summer holiday or the winter holiday...because we haven't celebrated it at school so I just assumed it was in one of the holidays"

"Oh I don't really have one."

"WHAT! Lyd everyone has a birthday!"

"Mr Smith...Quiet down!"

Mcgonagall's voice rung out the room causing everyone to turn to us.

"Well I don't know mine...Delilah never told me when it was"

"That monster! So you're telling me you've never celebrated your birthday!"

"Yeah...I'm pretty used to it"

"Hell no! You should ask Dumbledore what day you were born! He will know!"

"I don't know...I'm really not that bothered V!"

"You should be...this is important! I'll come with you after class!"

"No no no, it's okay! Really I don't mind!"

"Well I do mind! Your my best friend Lyd...and not celebrating your birthday is a crime!"

"When's your birthday?"

"20th of July, during the summer"

"Oh...why didn't you say I would have made your letter a bit more special!"

"Lyd, I know who you live with...I was happy enough getting a normal letter from you"

"Thanks V...but I'm serious we don't need to find out what day I was born on...it's just a day after all"

"Your not listening Lyd...It's not fair that you've never had anyone to celebrate your birthday with...in fact it's worse to not have one at all, so we are going to Dumbledore...I'm not asking, I'm telling"

"Thanks V, you really are my best friend"

"Of course I am...and I'll never leave you...ever, I'll always be right here"

I gave him a massive hug.

"Miss Riddle, Mr Smith...please stop talking in my classroom...I don't want to have to send you both out side or separate you"

"Yes Professor Mcgonagall..."

We both nodded our heads and giggled a little.

"V stop running...my legs might fall off!"

"No! C'mon Lyd! Have some fun! This is exciting! We get to find out when your birthday is!!!"

"V!!!"

V was holding my wrist tightly while running super speed.

V was very fast...that's why when he grew up he wanted to play in quidditch, I think he's fab at it...miles better that scarhead...Draco is also good...but I've seen V's speed on the broom...he's glorious!

He's made to be a chaser...

"This is it!"

We showed up at a stone gargoyle thing...

"Umm V...I think we need a password"

"Yeah so we are just gonna wait until staff let us in or he himself lets us in"

"Seriously! V you realise we are gonna be waiting forever"

"Pfft, we'll be fine!"

"Ughhhhhhhhhh"

I slumped against the gargoyle.

Until it began to move,

"Aghhhhh! What did I do!!!"

"Wow Lyd! You did it!"

"Oh noooo! We are gonna get in so much trouble! You know the consequences for me when I get in trouble!"

"Calm down Lyd, we have a good reason!"

V began to eagerly walk up the steps,

He was always so quick to do things...without even processing it in his head...I worry for what that might do to him in the future.

I followed him.

"Ahhh Miss Riddle, Mr Smith...I've been expecting to see you here"

"H-how?"

Dumbledore just given me this,

'I kNow EvErYthiNg yOu idiOt' look...

"Y-yeah we came to find out Lyd's birthday! She says that she doesn't need to know or celebrate it but I think that she at least deserves to know what day she was born, don't you?"

"Y-yes I do, Lydia...I'm so sorry...I had no idea that you never knew...you were born on 5th of January"

"Lyd! That's great we get back to school on the 2nd! That means we get to celebrate your birthday!!!"

"O-oh...cool...I guess"

I just plastered a smile on...it was a lot to take in, after all this time I finally had a birthday.

It just felt weird.

"C'mon Lyd we should get ready for dinner! Thank you Professor Dumbledore!"

"Any time, oh and Lydia..."

I turned round to see his concerned face,

"Well done on behaving properly, the other professors have told me about your hard work in all your classes...your very smart I hear?"

"U-Umm thank you"

He just nodded and me and V went away

Dumbledore was really odd, I was never sure what he was thinking.

"I can't wait to celebrate your birthday after Christmas! It's gonna be so fun!"

"Sure!"

"You don't seem happy..."

"No I am! It's just really weird...I've never had a birthday before and all of a sudden...here I am"

"Aww Lyd...I'll make sure you have the best birthday ever!!!"

We made our way to dinner,

"Guyyyssss guess who's birthday it is on the 5th of January!"

"Uhhhh I don't know"

"Who's?"

"Lydiaaaaaa'ssss"

Draco given me a concerned look,

"Wait Lyd why didn't you say"

"I just found out with V"

"Wait you never knew when your birthday was?"

"Nope"

"Wow, I can't imagine what that must have been like...I'm so sorry"

"Nah it's fine really...I got used to it after a while"

"Anyways, I'm going to be planning the best birthday ever for Lyd and I'll need everyone's help to make it perfect"

"Oh no, I don't want a party or anything!"

"Fine, we can all just get together and have fun in our dorm"

"What do you mean by 'have fun'?"

"Shut up Blaise"

We all burst out laughing.

It was crazy to think I had this great friends.

Weird...and gross but great.
