Chapter Twelve: Expectations

Y/N's Pov
I was walking to class when Tristan walking in front of me.
"I think you made a mistake leaving me Y/N. Jess isn't good enough for you. He doesn't deserve you, but I do," He said placing his hands on my waist.
I pushed him away.
"Don't touch me Tristan. And Jess does deserve me, and he's most definitely enough for me," I told him.
"I think your wrong," Tristan said.
I pushed him harder away from me.
I quickly went to English class.
Mr Medina was passing back our papers.
"Remember, this paper is worth 10 percent of your grade," Mr Medina told us.
"Look at the red circles from your paper. Learn from your mistakes," Mr Medina told us.
He gave me mine. I looked up at him.
"Try to study more Ms Gilmore," He told me.
I looked at it again. I got a D.. I can't believe this, I studied for like two hours last night. What did I do wrong?
Then the bell rang. I got up and went to my locker. Mr Medina was my last class of the day. I packed my stuff and walked out of the school. I still had my paper in my hand. I glanced at it and waited for the bus to come. I got on the bus and sat by the window. Chilton is so much harder than Stars Hollow High. I didn't want to go to Chilton in the first place, my grandmother just wanted me to go. For what reasons? I have no idea.
When I got to my bus stop I got out and saw Jess standing there with his arms behind his back. I started walking past him.
"Y/N!" I heard Jess yell.
I didn't say anything, I just kept on walking.
"Hey," He said grabbing my hand pulling me closer to him.
"Did I do something..?" He asked.
"No, no. I'm sorry.. I'm just in a bad mood," I told him.
He wrapped his arm around my shoulder, and I nuzzled my head into his shoulder.
"Wanna tell me about it?" He asked.
"I don't know. Tristan's bugging me. I got a crappy grade on my English Essay," I told Jess.
I handed the paper to him. He took it. I felt him kiss my forehead.
"Can't you just redo it?" Jess said.
I shook my head.
"That's one of the many joys of Chilton," I said sarcastically.
I could feel his smirk.
"Can't you just come back to Stars Hollow?" He asked.
"Oh, I wish," I told him.
"Talk to your mom," He told me.
I looked up at him.
"Yeah. Is she at Luke's?" I asked.
"Yeah, she was there when I left," He told me.
I nodded and nuzzled back into Jess's shoulder.
We got to Luke's and went inside. I saw mom sitting at a table, I kissed Jess's cheek and let go of him. I sat next to mom.
"Hey hon," She said.
"Hey.. can we talk?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure. What's up?" She asked.
I showed her my paper.
"Oh honey..." She whispered.
"I can't do it. I can't do Chilton, it's hard, it's stressful," I told her.
"It's just one paper," She smiled.
"It's just to much. I can't handle it anymore, I want to go back to Stars Hollow High," I told her.
"Well.. if that's what you want," Mom smiled.
Luke came over.
"I'm going back to Stars Hollow High," I smiled to Luke.
"Well that's great! You can keep an eye on Jess!" Luke beamed.
"Yeah, I could," I smiled.

I walking around with Jess.
"You excited?" Jess asked.
"Yeah. I miss you, and Lane," I said, " And I'll get away from Tristan," I added.
"Yeah.." He mumbled.
"Can I ask you something?" I asked.
"Of course," He said.
"Don't lie to me," I told him.
"I would never," He said wrapping his arm around my waist.
I played with his fingers that were holding my hand.
"Have you been going to school...?" I hesitantly asked.
"I'm going enough," He said.
"What does that mean?" I asked.
"It means don't worry about it," He told me.
"Well.. I'll be going back to Stars Hollow High.. so I'll be there making sure that you are actually going enough," I told him.
He looked down at me, then back in front of him.
"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked, looking up at him resting my hand against his chest.
"I don't need you to make sure I'm going," He told me.
"I was just saying that I would be there to help you," I told him.
"Well I don't need your help! I don't need anyone's help!" He yelled.
I let go of him and started to walk away.
"You can't just walk away Y/N!" I heard Jess yell.
I started running away. Jess isn't the kind of guy who would just go after you right after a fight. He would wait either that night, or the next day. Sometimes he'll even waist a week before trying to talk to you. I crossed my arms over my chest, pulling my jacket closer to my body. I turned around and saw Jess slowly walking away with his hands stuffed into his jacket pockets. I just walked home.
After I got home I went to my room and fell onto my bed.
"Hey hon," Mom said sitting at the edge of the bed.
"Hey," I said sitting up.
"I talked to the Stars Hollow High principal, he said that you can switch," She said.
"Okay, great. Thank you," I thanked her.
"Yeah, no problem," She said.
I smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Well I'm gonna go to bed, I have a meeting tomorrow at 7 am," Mom said rolling her eyes.
"Good luck," I told her.
"Thanks hon, and you start Stars Hollow High tomorrow," She told me.
She went to the kitchen and came back with my books, and my new schedule.
"Thanks," I smiled.
"Yep," She smiled back.
She left and I went to Rory's room to go tell her. I knocked on her door.
"Come in!" She shouted.
I walked in.
"Hey, mom told me that your switching," Rory said.
"Yeah, I think that Chilton's just too much for me," I said.
"Alright. Well Goodnight," Rory said.
"Goodnight," I said walking back to my room.
When got there I packed my bags and grabbed The Outsiders and started reading. I saw Jess's notes, and thought of him. I put my book down and grabbed my cell phone. I called him. On the third ring he answered.
"Hello?" He asked.
"Hi," I said.
"Oh, Hi," He said.
"Are you still upset with me?" I asked.
"Nope," He told me.
I smiled.
"I'm sorry," I apologized.
"No, no, I shouldn't have yelled at you," Jess said.
"It's alright," I told him.
"So, I talked to my mom, and she said that I'm starting tomorrow," I told him.
"That's great," He said.
"Yeah," I smiled.
"Hey, can I come over?" Jess asked.
"Yeah, I'd like that," I told him.
"Okay," He said before hanging up.
I grabbed my book waiting for Jess to come.
Like 10 minutes later I heard a knock at my window. I stood up and saw Jess there, slight damp. I opened the window letting him in.
"Was it raining?" I asked.
"A little," He said.
"And you still came?" I asked wrapping my arms around his cold neck.
He closed the window.
"Of course I did," He said kissing my forehead.
He rested a hand on my waist as he left a sweet kiss to my forehead.
"I'm really sorry for yelling at you. I was just in a crappy mood," Jess told me.
"No, no, it's okay," I told him.
"Promise?" He asked giving a very concerned face.
"I promise," I told him.
I leaned up and kissed him. He kissed back, it wasn't quite a make out, it was just a kiss. I slowly pulled back, because I could taste the smoke in his mouth. I looked down.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Nothing," I said.
"Something is," He told me.
"I just don't like it when you smoke.." I whispered.
"I'm sorry.." He whispered.
I nodded.
"It's okay," I told him.
He slowly walked out of my room.
"Hey, where are you going?" I asked.
He went to the kitchen, and I followed him. He dug in his pocket for his cigarette pack and threw it in the trash. He walked back over to me. He kissed my jawline gently. He pulled away.
"I'm gonna go," He said.
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow," I told him.
"Okay," He nodded, and walked out.
I went back to my room and went to sleep.
The Next Morning~~
I slept in a little later than usual because I don't have to go to Chilton anymore. I got up and got dressed, washed my face, and brushed my teeth. I got all of my things together and left to go to Luke's. I went inside and put my bag next to me.
"Good morning, Y/N," Luke said giving me coffee.
"Morning Luke. Where's Jess?" I asked.
"He's doing his hair," Luke rolled his eyes.
I started to drink my coffee, and saw Jess walked down.
"Good morning," I smiled.
"Morning," Jess said.
I finished my coffee and gave Luke money. Me and Jess started walking to school. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
"What class do you have first?" Jess asked.
I looked in my bag and pulled out my schedule.
"English, room 109," I told him.
"Oh yeah? Me too," Jess smirked.
"Well isn't that a quintessential," I smiled.
I leaned against him and we walked to school.
When we got there I went straight to my class, and Jess followed me.
"Ms Gilmore," The teacher said.
"Yes?" I asked.
"I'm glad to have you back," She smiled.
"Thank you," I smiled.
"Mr Mariano, thank you for joining us," She said looking at Jess.
"Oh, sure, I hear education is very important," He said sarcastically.
The teacher rolled her eyes. Me and Jess sat down. The teacher gave me a couple packets.
"These were some of the notes from last week," She said.
"Thank you," I smiled.
"Mhm," She nodded.
She went back to the front of the classroom. I looked and saw Lane. I waved, and she smiled and waved back.
"Alright class, let's start off with chapter 6," She said.
I grabbed my English book, and she told us to read independently.
After School~~
Me and Jess were walking to Luke's,
"So, how was your first day back?" Jess asked.
"It was good," I smiled.
"Yeah? Easier?" Jess asked me.
"I think it'll be easier. Less stress at least. I'm just worried about what my grandmother will say.." I told him.
"You think she'll be upset?" Jess asked.
"Well.. for as long as I can remember she's always wanted me and Rory to go to an Ivy League college," I told him.
"Do you want to go to an Ivy League college?" He asked.
"Not really. I just wanna get out of here," I laughed of embarrassment.
"Out of Stars Hollow?" He asked.
"I don't know.. I just want to travel the world, go to Paris and see the Eiffel Tower up close, go to Alaska and see the Northern Lights," I explained.
"Fall in Love.." I added.
"I'm sure you'll do it. I'll make sure of that," He said.
"How?" I asked looking up at him.
"I'll take you myself," He said.
"You will?" I asked smiling.
"Yeah.. I will.." He whispered.
I smiled and kissed him. He kissed back, and I wrapped my arms around his neck. I slowly pulled away.
"Y/N?" Jess whispered.
"Yes?" I asked.
