Chapter 22- Second Chances

Side note: does anyone take Pre- Cal and just cry everyday or is it just me? 😃

Valentina had been asleep for an hour and a half

Wanda and Loki were both across from her and Logan, reading and watching Tv softly on a laptop

That's when all chaos broke loose

One minute she was fine, she was stirring but doesn't everyone when they're sleeping?

It started with the stirring, and then the crease between her eyebrows

Followed by her nails digging into Logan's torso

Before Logan could say anything Wanda was up and putting her hand on Valentina's forehead

Do it

You must do it

It's your duty to the Hydra

Do it now!

Layers voices were all screaming her head

So loud that even Wanda flinched back

Wanda put both hands on Valentina's face and a few seconds later, her eyes snapped open

She grabbed Wanda's wrists and sat up very startled and breathing hard

"Hey it's ok, your ok" Wanda said gently

As soon as Valentina knew what was going on, her grip on Wanda's wrists loosened

Her breathing was harsh and ragged

Logan put a hand on her sternum and the other around her waist

Valentina leaned back into his embrace and closed her eyes

"Are you ok?" Logan asked

"Mmhm" she said still trying to catch her breath

"I'm sorry" she said while letting go of Wanda's wrists and swallowing hard

"It's ok, I'm fine" Wanda said

"I thought things like that would be blocked off" Valentina thought out loud

"Sometimes intrusive thoughts can be aggressive. Memories, which I assume this was one, can be even more aggressive" Wanda explained while rubbing Valentina's arms

"Was it a memory?" Logan asked to confirm

Valentina just nodded

"Why don't we go up to my room and try again" Wanda says while standing up

Valentina had to admit, she felt extremely relaxed and calm while she was asleep

She stood up with Logan's hands still on her waist to keep her steady

He stood up as well and very gently picked her up

Valentina didn't complain this time, she just rested her head against his chest and closed her eyes

Wanda shared a floor with Loki and Pietro

Wanda opened the door to her room and they stepped in behind her

She closed her curtains and dimmed her lights

She pulled her covers back and sat down on her bed then patted the spot between her legs

Logan put her down where Wanda indicated

Wanda put her hands on Valentina's shoulders and got her to lay down with her head in between Wanda's legs

"Just relax ok?" Wanda says before putting a hand on either side of Valentina's head

Valentina nodded and took a deep breath

Wisps of red started falling from Wanda's fingers and Valentina's eyes turned the same shade of red

"You are at Avenger's compound. You're here with me, Wanda. You are not with Hydra anymore, they can't hurt you anymore. Your safe here" Wanda said gently

Valentina just nodded dazed before closing her eyes

This time around, Wanda felt more resistance, hence why she decided to use more of her powers to put her to sleep

When Valentina woke up she turned to find Bucky sitting in the chair that was in the corner of the room

"Hey, how do you feel?" He said as he realized she was awake

"Fine, I feel well rested" she said

"Were you watching me sleep?" She asked

"Well I wasn't watching you sleep. Wanda had to leave before the rest of them burned down the tower trying to cook dinner. I didn't want you waking up and being alone. I got worried that maybe you'd have a nightmare or something" he said honestly

There was a long moment of silence where none of the two spoke

"Do you ever get frightened that the Winter Soldier might come back out" she blurted out

Bucky sighed and came to sit by her on the bed

"I did, so I went into a cryostasis chamber in Wakanda. My arm was already gone with all the fighting with Hydra and the government, so that wasn't an issue. I stayed in the chamber until they figured out how to fix me. And now, Hydra doesn't hold any power against me. I'm no longer brainwashed, my arm is my own, and so is my mind" Bucky explained

"But that didn't mean I didn't have nightmares or didn't stay up at night regretting everything I did, everyone I killed, the list just seems to go on forever, but I found my place here. I realized that there's nothing I can do to change my past, I can't bring them back. I saw how Nat and Loki deserved a second chance despite their past, and I saw that I deserved a second chance too" he said

"You deserve a second chance too Valentina" He added while putting a hand on her face

"Let's head down, food should be ready soon" He said standing up and helping her stand

"Can I pick you up?" he asked

"I can walk you know" Valentina said

"I would feel better if you didn't" Bucky replied

"Fine" she said, allowing him to pick her up

Once Bucky had a good hold on her he started walking down, deciding to take the stairs since he thought that the elevator might make her head worse

When they came down the stairs, they were met by everyone except Steve and Sam

Wanda was in the kitchen with Tony, Stephen and Clint

Peter and Thor were on one of the sofas with Morgan

Pietro was speeding all over the place and Loki was teleporting in front of him, making Pietro run in squares

Logan and Natasha were sitting together and Bruce was reading through what looked like medical charts

Natasha and Logan separated and she patted the spot between them

Bucky gently placed her down and made sure she was comfortable before he entered the kitchen

"How do you feel?" Natasha asked while putting a hand on her thigh

"Better than before" Valentina told her

Logan put an arm around her shoulder and she instantly leaned back on it

She didn't say it out loud but she found herself enjoying the company of her soulmates

Maybe this wouldn't be all thast bad
