chapter twenty eight scott bit a freshman

SILAS' MOTEL room was nicer than she thought it would be. When she knocked on his door, the boy let her in without question, already having an idea as to why she was there. She wanted all the answers he could give her—he just didn't know how many of those answers he could actually provide her with.
Odessa placed her bag on the edge of the bed, sitting herself next to it, "well, this isn't so bad," she offered while glancing around at the room around her.
Silas scoffed a chuckle at her comment, "yeah, it's way better than my previous living conditions."
The motel room was simple. One queen bed in the middle of the room with a bedside table and a lamp on it. A small desk on the other side of the room that Odessa saw had some notebooks and other miscellaneous things on it. There was also a good sized TV in front of the bed. There were shades on the windows for privacy and a small single bathroom not far from the bed. All in all, it wasn't the worst place to temporarily live in. But it wasn't the best. The place looked like it hadn't been deep cleaned at all with paint chipping on the walls. The blonde knew it wasn't a five star hotel and he had already been living there before he made his presence known, but she couldn't help but feel bad that he was living there.
Odessa couldn't help but wonder if Scott hadn't taken her in, she would've ended up living in a place like this. She almost asked Scott if Silas could sleep on his floor with the air mattress like Isaac did before he left but she didn't want to impose on the McCall's, they already had so much going on. Odessa knew it wouldn't be ideal for them to take in another stranger. Even when Odessa came to town, she was hesitant to accept the guest room that was now her room. She hated imposing on people or being a burden, no matter how much Melissa and Scott reminded her she wasn't.
"Will you tell me about it?"
Silas leaned against the TV stand in front of the bed, crossing his arms, "what do you want to know?"
The Ember pursed her lips for a moment before diving in, "what was our day like there?"
"Well, we would wake up and wait for our doors to unlock," the boy started bitterly, "eat breakfast if they allowed us to, start training, get pulled out of training to get our tests done, go back to training, have dinner if they allowed it and then go to bed. Very productive day, if you ask me."
"What do you mean by tests," Odessa asked with furrowed brows. She had never had a dream with anything to do with tests outside of training.
