chapter twenty nine 24 million dollars
━━━━━━ ◦ ❖ ◦ ━━━━━━
"SO, THE Walcott's were the first. At least the first that we know about. Four murders. Sean, his brother, and their parents. They were killed by a professional assassin called The Mute. Weapon or choice, a military tomahawk. But then The Mute was killed by Peter Hale after he tried to blow up Derek with a Claymore mine. Next was Demarco. He delivered a keg to the party at Lydia's lake house. And got decapitated outside his car. And then last night, 23-year-old Carrie Hudson."
"It's a dead pool," Scott McCall simplified to Sheriff Stilinski after the man's son explained everything they had found out since the full Moon, "a hit list of supernatural creatures."
It had been 2 days since the party at Lydia's lake house and the amount of bodies that had been discovered since then was alarming.
From in between the two boys, Odessa Stone looked down at the list with unease coursing through her veins. Ever since the list became known, she had been on edge more than usual. Always looking over her shoulder, or standing herself behind Stiles or Scott whenever she was anywhere but their homes. Everyone in the McCall pack was unnerved by the hit list, but with Odessa it was different.
She escaped the Salvation. They had no knowledge as to where she escaped to. Now they did. Odessa knew this because after almost a week of Silas being in town, he only told Odessa the reason he came in the first place after the list became known.
Silas told her he overheard the Saviors talking about taking the blonde back and how they knew of her location. Once the explanation left his mouth, the Stone was livid. How could he keep such vital information from her and only tell her until it was too late? The boy apologized profusely and told her it slipped his mind and the sight of her after so long completely blindsided him. Odessa took his apology but was still angry with him. Her on edge attitude didn't help overshadow her usual forgiving nature as well.
Odessa didn't want to go back. She would rather die, though she would never tell anyone how extreme she would go to avoid being taken back to the Salvation. The blonde wanted to stay in Beacon Hills with her friends, Melissa and Stiles.
When the hazel eyed boy was clued in on the possible threat toward Odessa, the girl and Scott had to hold him back from charging at Silas for keeping the information from them. While Odessa would always subconsciously go behind him wherever they went, Stiles would grab her hand and guide her behind him. He felt as if he just got her, and he didn't want to lose her.
Stiles hadn't brought it up, but the whole situation was making him think of them becoming official even more. He appreciated her kind gesture of waiting because of the trauma they experienced with Void, him in particular, but he was getting better—they both were. If there was anything Stiles had learned from being in the world of the supernatural, it was that life was short. He wanted to experience what it was like to be with Odessa completely before she was taken from him.
