Chapter 1-Welcome Week

"Alright, here you go", the barista says with a smile.

"Thank you", I say, taking my iced frappucino

I sit down at a table and open the plastic straw that I picked up along the way to my table. I take a sip of my drink and turn my phone on.

Ping!

I open the new notification on my phone.

"@AhsleyS.34 has tagged you in a photo!"

I look at the photo and smile. 

"We cleaned up your room, babygirl. We're so excited for you to come home this spring break❤"

I sigh and set my phone down.

When should I tell them?, I think to myself, taking another sip from my expensive energizer.

"Hey, M!", I turn around and see Lucas walking in the door.

"Lucas!", I practically jump out of my seat and run up to him. 

I jump into his arms and he spins me around. 

"You're finally here!", he exclaims, excitedly.

"Sooo...", he grins at me, "how are you liking campus?"

"It's amazing!"

He walks over to my table and grabs my stuff.

"Wait, what are you doing?", I ask him, trying to pry my beloved drink out of his hand.

"I'm taking you to Welcome Week!", he says, happily.

"Noooo!!!", I cry, dramatically.

10 minutes later...

"Would you like to sign up for Sing Sing?", a cheery girl says.

I look at all the booths and sigh.

"Come on, it's not that bad. Hold on, I'll be right back".

Lucas walks away, leaving me in the middle of a bunch of too-happy people.

"Pledge to Kappa Kappa Phi!", some girl dressed in a flowery romper says.

Maybe a sorority wouldn't be too bad..., I think to myself.

Just then, somebody grabs my shoulders. I whirl around and punch them in the groin.

"Ow! Son-of-a..."

It's Lucas.

"Whoops, sorry", I say, throwing my hands up in surrender.

"N...No...It's alright. Just...Give me a minute", he says in pain.

He slowly walks in circles, back hunched over, trying to regain his posture. After a few minutes, he slowly stands back up and winces a little.

"I'm sorry. That was my fault, M. I forgot that I can't walk up on you like that", he says, laughing a little.

"No, no. It's my fault. I need to stop being so...Rational", I say.

"Anyways", Lucas turns around and ushers someone forward, "this is my friend. Jaehyun".

I look at him and my, mental, jaw drops.

"H-Hi...Jaehyun", I say, awkwardly.

"Hey", he says, smiling, revealing his adorable dimples. 

"That was...Quite an introduction", he says, chuckling.

I blush furiously, "y-yeah...Sorry about that".

"Nah, it's fine. At least now I know not to sneak up on you", he says, trying to lighten the mood.

I laugh nervously.

"Hey, um...", he scratches the back of his neck, "me and my buddies are having a party tonight. Y'know, welcome the newbies, and I think you should come. You'd have a lot of fun".

"O-Okay...", I smile.

"Umm...Lucas will bring you, he knows where it's at".

I look at Lucas and he gives me a thumbs up.

"Alright, well...I gotta get back to the booth, but...It was nice meeting you".

He smiles, and I smile back. 

Before he leaves, he leans down and whispers in my ear, "you should consider joining Kappa Kappa Phi. They're wild", then he jogs off.

"So...He seems nice...", I say, blushing a little.

Lucas nods, "trust me. He is. Him and all of his friends. They're so cool!"

I look at him and smirk, "somebody has a crush"

I tickle him and he laughs.

"I do not!"

"Whatever. So...Is he like...In a fraternity?"

"Yeah, actually. I met him when I first got here".

"You've only been here for two days, and you already know so much about him?"

"Well...We really hit it off".

"That's good. But, I'm still your bestie...Right?"

He hits my shoulder playfully, "yes. Of course, you are. Now...Let's go get some snow cones!"

We both race to the snow cone stall, laughing along the way.
