"Mark! I'm here!", I call from downstairs.

Mark comes rushing down the stairs with a panicked look on his face.

"What's wrong?", I say, pursing my lips.

"I don't know what to wear!", he says.

"Well...I can help"

He grabs my hand and pulls me upstairs. He grabs his hairbrush and starts frantically brushing his hair while I search his closet. I rummage through his clothes, throwing stuff on the ground along the way.

Aha!

I pull out a black suit and lay it on his bed. Then, I grab a pair of black dress shoes and set them next to the suit. Mark lets out a sigh of relief and starts taking his clothes off. I blush and quickly turn around to give him some privacy.

"Thanks, Myla. I really appreciate it".

I smile, "no worries. We should get going, now".

He nods and we head downstairs.

15 minutes later...

Mark and I walk into a fancy restaurant, hand in hand, and go sit down at a table.

"Wow. It's so fancy", I say, taking in the classical song wafting through the air.

"I know. My parents would never miss a chance to look classy to someone they're meeting for the first time"

I giggle.

"Mark, sweetie!"

I turn around and see a middle-aged couple walking towards us.

"Mom, dad!", Mark exclaimed, excitedly.

They all exchanged hugs and then sat down. As soon as they sat down, I felt his parent's eyes on me.

Mark cleared his throat, "mom, dad. This is my girlfriend, Myla".

His Mom smiled sweetly, "nice to meet you. I'm Angelica and this is my husband Andy".

I smiled at them both, "nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Lee".

"So...Myla, Mark tells me you're a fine arts major".

I look at Mark and he bites his lip, nervously.

"Yes, I've always loved art".

She smiles warmly and her husband frowns. I notice her hit his knee and he puts on a small smile.

"What job are you thinking of getting?"

I think for a second, "I would love to be a photographer".

His mother's smile falters momentarily.

"Oh. How lovely", she says, regaining her smile.

Mark's dad clears his throat, "have you ever considered maybe being a nurse?"

"...No", I say, looking down.

Mark's parents glance at each other.

"Well, I'm hungry. I was busy at work so I didn't get a chance to eat", Mark's dad says.

"Are you ready to order?", Mark asks me.

I nod.

"May I take your order?", the waiter asks.

"I'll have an 8oz filet mignon. Medium-rare, please", Mark's mom says.

"I'll have the Mediterranean shrimp kabobs", his Dad says.

"I'll have the shrimp pasta", Mark says.

"And for the young lady?", the waiter says, looking at me.

Everyone looks at me, expectantly.

"I'll just have a...Garden salad".

Mark looks at me, worried. I give him a wary smile and take a sip of my water. After the waiter walks away, Mark's mom pipes up.

"So...Mark, any big news to tell us?"

"Nope", Mark says.

"Like...No...Kids?"

Mark's eyes widen, "mom!"

"What? You know I've been wanting grandchildren".

"I'm only 21", Mark says, blushing.

"I had you when I was 21", his Mom says.

I blush and look down.

"I'm thinking of having kids when I'm 30", I say, quietly.

"That's nice", Mark's Dad says, taking a sip of wine.

"So...Mrs. Lee, where do you work?", I ask, trying to change the subject.

His Mom smiles, "I work at Pheonix Enterprise. I manage one of the branches"

"That's awesome".

His Mom smiles, "thank you, Myla".

"What about you, Mr. Lee?", I ask Mark's dad.

"I am the CEO of La Nature. It's a cologne company".

"Wow, very impressive, sir".

His dad smiles fondly.

"So...Myla, what do your parents do?"

"Well...My Mom is an assistant at a small company and my dad is a police officer".

"A small company?", his Mom asks, sounding slightly upset.

"Yeah..."

Mark clears his throat, "well...Mom, I have an opportunity to go abroad to Japan to be Osana Kimuzi's assistant".

"That's excellent, sweetie!", his Mom says, grinning widely, "when are you leaving?"

"Well...I'm actually not going...", Mark says, quietly.

His Mom frowns, "what?"

"I was thinking of joining the football team here. You know I've always loved sports".

His Mom stands up and glares daggers at him.

"You're such a disappointment!", she seethes.

Mark looks down and I notice a tear form in his eye. His Mom walks out and his Dad follows after her. I put my hand on Mark's shoulder and take a deep breath.

"Let's go back to the dorm. I think she needs some space".
