20. Being Us

"It's unfair, you do so much for him, for the family and he is the one who gets to have a vacation abroad." Sithara's mother spoke and she couldn't help but instantly regret complaining about her life being so busy, mundane and tiring to her.

"Amma, no please." She stopped her mother before she could go over the board and ruin her mood.

"He does not holiday Amma, he goes there to get business. I have traveled with him, he doesn't even sleep right, his eating schedule is a mess, he neglects his needs only to make money for me, for us, for the luxurious life we are living, don't be so harsh on him Mumma." She explained. She intended to strike a normal conversation, to share her misery but it was difficult to make her mother like Arsalan. Sithara was just glad that at least she did not hate on him now.

"He would be the happiest to have me along, he even insists but I've no energy to sit and see him rush so much and then my kids have school and sports. You know nah, so please aise Arsalan pe na chara karo, mujhe nahi pasand." She was only being honest. She loved her mother but the fact was she loved Arsalan too and he was the one with whom she actually spent her life with, the one who made her so happy and having people come & crib about him made her so mad.

"Whatever." Her mother sniffed. "I only care for you and it does not make sense to me with you two spending so much of yourself for money when you have enough. It'll be better if you'd rather enjoy with eachother, with your parents, with your children because this time is precious, best you two can have so cherish it instead of waking up in different countries." Sithara didn't deny the truth in her words and she understood that her mother's advice was only coming from her experience and she knew better than her.

"Hm, you are right." She hummed. It was so confusing. When Sithara did not work her degrees felt so useless, she felt so wasted but then when she did restart she missed being home with her children, she missed being there for Arsalan all the time, she missed being spoilt by her husband on his money.

It had been really tough for her to find a balance that would pacify her heart, that wouldn't have her wanting to be in some other place all the time but Sithara was only grateful that finally she could and it was because of Arsalan.
