I am well aware that I haven't posted for a while and that this is kind of short.

I have a very good reason;

I have a lamb (baby sheep) I'm currently looking  after and I've been working for several days this week. See top picture

Hope you like this kind short piece, comment etc... it was kind of tricky to write... tell me what you think?

 Kota's POV:

I don't think Corey's come off his computer in the last month. Even now in the middle of our family meeting, his typing away on the thing. Come on man, this is important, I think we're asking if North is lost to us. If it's worth still looking for him, personally I'm not sure, I mean he cooked great food, but what else did he really do, yes Kayli, my darling, liked him but we can't keep expending resources on this.

"MR. HENSHAW COULD YOU PLEASE DESIST FROM LOOKING AT THE LAPTOP FOR A FEW MINUATES!" Mr. B sounds extremely pissed off with Corey, most of us are, to be fair, all day every day, that infernal clicking. Click clack, click clack. His still typing! The fact that he has Mr. B annoyed kind of shows that it's been going on for a long time. Gabe from beside him nudges the hacker and he finally looks up.

"Yes?" Corey asks, black bags under his eyes, a pair of glasses perched on his nose, there're new. He looks shattered, yet there's an exited light in his eyes.

"Oh, so you are with us then?" Nathen mutters angrily, Corey blinks at him a few times, "What the f**k are you doing on the computer constantly?" Corey looks slightly guilty but quickly shuts the screen and focuses on the rest of us, without answering.

"Right, now you're with us, I have a rather curious email request." Mr. B clicks a remote and an email pops up on the large screen. Gesturing for us to read it, apparently this isn't about North then.

Forwarded from Mr. Taylor (Uncle)

Hello Sir, and to which ever dog team this email is forwarded to.

I am offering you five favours for this request. I have an idea of how to help some of the children you have saved, I would like to try animal therapy for them. I also need a guide around the city, which is where you would come in.

I would like to meet each of you individually and assess who I would work best with, in case I ever need your help on a future mission, as I don't get on well with a lot of dogs and even less birds. It could take anything from five minutes to an hour to assess any of you, I know this could be an inconvenience, which is why I am offering you five favours for a mission with no risk. The one who I select will also need to be available at possible later dates (with extra personal favours) for probably more dangerous missions.

Thank you for taking the time to read this if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you, I hope to see you soon.

Violet Smith

Below was a note added from Uncle:

I understand this is a strange request, and many of you will be very hesitant to accept this "mission" if you can call it that but, I've met Miss. Smith and she has her reasons.

I also believe her idea is a good one, so I would like you to take this as a recommendation to take this mission.

Uncle.

I have never seen Uncle give us a recommendation to take a mission before and I don't know what to make of it. This mission also seems strange far too easy for the amount of favours this Violet girl is offering.

For several moments we are all absolutely silent, and it's like no one wants to break it. Kayli's not here, she still doesn't know much about the Academy, we keep her as far away from it as possible, while she comes to family meetings, she doesn't come to mission ones. She knows we all work for it, but we haven't told her about the more dangerous missions we go on, or at least used to go on. Most of us are more focused on family now.

At the thought of family, I feel something twist inside, I haven't spoken to my mum or Jess for well over three months and I'm just realising quite how much I miss them. I tune back into Axel talking.

"...And so, I think we should take the mission, we might need the favours in the future and it's going to take less than a day to go though us all so what's the down sides?" he opens the topic up for discussion with the rest of us.

"What do we tell Kayli?" Brandon jumps in with quickly and we all turn to look at Axel and Mr. B, they exchange a look and then turn back to us.

"You think she would take it well?" Axel asks, not waiting for answer as he presses on, "We need those favours, but we don't need to tell Kayli. I want to, god knows I want to tell her everything and I know all of you do as well, but how much more danger would that put her in? Plus, as much as she trusts us, what would be her first reaction? To us telling her we have to work with an as yet unfaced lady?" I have to admit that his right, there is no way that she would cool with it, that's one hand, but what if she finds out that we took this mission and didn't tell her? I go to say just that point but Raven beats me to it.

"If she find out?" he busts out angrily.

"She won't, we are Academy, if we can't keep this from her then we don't deserver the name!" Axel shoots back. Raven shrugs a moment later.

"Kayli's family," Nathen hisses, "Family first!" I do partly agree with him, but something tells me that Kayli's going to be against it either way, so we might as well protect her, and we really do need these favours! I voice these thoughts and a few minutes later we have all agreed not to tell her, even if some of us agree somewhat reluctantly.

"Now several more thoughts about this mission, Mr. Henshaw, Mr. Morgan you're on a background check for this Violet Smith, make sure we know everything about her in case there are any issues!" they both nod, Corey a bit behind, looking slightly confused, still on a go slow! Why would Mr. B need to know everything about her? "Now does anyone have any questions for her before we email back our acceptance?" His says it as though he expects them not to. Nathen and a few of the others look like they still have some, but when Mr. B sends them all a look, they shake their heads somewhat reluctantly. Since when was he this controlling?

He gives a short nod, and we watch him type out a reply to the email.

Miss. Smith,

We will see you next Thursday. Please come to this address...

He continues typing but I let my eyes wander to the two-tech people, Corey looks shocked, and Victor utterly confused.

"What is it?" I whisper to Vic so that I don't disturb whatever Mr. B and Axel are now discussing.

"I think Violet Smith doesn't exist!" he mutters back at me, as he turns to Corey, "well some do, but none that could be coming here... unless it's this eighty-year-old from Pennsylvania!" Corey nods in return and they both go back to typing.

So that means we are going to be working with a very good alias or a ghost bird? This just got more complicated!

Hope you liked the kind of short part, the next ones better I promise plus the next one will answer some questions...

The picture at the top is my lamb in case anyone was wondering her name is Delores (Lore) cute right? (she wouldn't feed from her mum so we have to bottle feed her) she has nothing to do with the story  (yet ....)just really cute!
