Orochimaru probably shouldn't find the situation funny, but he did. It was just the typical feeling when everything went according to plan. So well, in fact, that he didn't have to bring out his entire force, nor did he have to actually intervene himself. All the aces stayed hidden. All he did was walk through the hallways, collect a few people with nice quirks and watch others do all the work. This place was a treasure trove and he couldn't wait to have it to himself again.

He had clones still combing the other hallways at the same time. He even had two who were fully focused on disposing of the shadows after they became incapacitated. It was a shame, really, so many great Quirks gone but then again he had DNA and chakra samples from all of them stored on the lower floors and secured with countless seals, so in the end that wasn't a problem either.

When the whole thing was over, the others would probably be nice enough to take all the bodies too. Even the failed test objects he didn't have to dispose of himself now. It was practically free service. The little bit of blood would be cleaned up by his shadows.

"Orochimaru, you bastard, what have you done?!" someone yelled from behind him, and he turned around. One of his new test subjects must have woken up. It was in a large cell and several people were chained to the walls or floor, like untamed animals. He looked at the man who had yelled at him, wrinkled his nose and just walked away.

"Hey, let me out of here!" but the sannin paid no attention to him. Instead he shunshinned away, outside of the hideout, and sat down on a tree. Again, everything was covered in blood and organs were hanging out of torn open torsos. It stank of metal and the devilish red shone in the light of the searchlights. The loud rattle of the helicopters, which hung in the air and illuminated the ground with the bright white light. Here in front of the entrance it was empty, except for the corpses, all staring at him with their empty eyes. Not that it bothered him.

Farther away, the sound of fighting could still be heard, and he turned to the bustle. He glided over the treetops and landed in the branches of a tree just a few feet from the center of the fight. The shade of the leaves obscured him as he stared down.

"Reinforcements are here!" someone yelled in the background, and Orochimaru's eyes lit up. Well, he couldn't have that now, could he? He jumped out of the tree and landed in the middle of the clearing. Glances were directed at him and with a simple wave of his hand, the shadows jumped away. He didn't have to say out loud what he wanted them to do so they knew what to do. That's what a seal connected to a person's mind was good for after all. The shadows disappeared in all directions, seemingly without a destination, but they would regroup a little ways away and ambush the reinforcements that were coming.

"Orochimaru!" shouted one, now that he was the only enemy around, all attention was on him. Now that he thought about it, his name was said, yelled, or cursed quite a lot that day. Funny.

Everyone was tense, tired, and really just wanted to get away. The Sannin stood in between, as composed as anyone could be, a throwing knife in his hand as he deftly flicked it between his fingers. The light from the helicopter overhead illuminated him like a performer in the middle of a stage. His brown hair danced untamed in the wind and his clothes flew around his body. He briefly eyed the people in front of him before his gaze lifted and fixed on the helicopter.

He saw what looked like some kind of gun being aimed at him through the open hatch. A shot rang out, the sound simply drowned out by the helicopter's rotating wings, but Orochimaru perceived the sound clearly. The metal bullet whizzed through the air and in a flash the Assassin raised his arm. The clash of metal could be heard as the bullet bounced off the chakra-enhanced blade of his throwing knife. His eyes lit up and a grin crept onto his face. His hands went through a series of hand signals, too fast to make out exactly what they were, his grin ever present.
