I got up out of the cramped airplane seat, stretching my arms over my head as the other passengers began to get out of their seats.
I flicked Jae's forehead, "Wake up dummy."
He groaned, "Ow what the heck."
"Come on. We've arrived," I said slightly gentler. He was my little brother after all.
We grabbed our bags from the overhead cabin and followed the slow line out of the plane to meet our parents outside of the gate.
I hugged my dad, "Mm I'm sleepy."
Jae did the same to our mom, "Mom~ I'm tired."
"My lord what babies we have," my dad chuckled.
"Come on you two," my mom sighed, pulling us towards customs.
It was pretty dark outside the airport, and the bundled-up outfits of pretty much everyone suggested how cold it was outside.
We took about an hour to get through customs and immigration and then finally made our way to baggage claim to pick up our checked-in bags.
The sounds of planes coming and going constantly filled our ears as we sleepily trudged on.
"I need to go pick up a coffee. You want one?" I asked Jae.
"Yes, please. Black coffee. Thanks, sis," he mumbled.
I placed our orders at the airport café and brought them back. I probably shouldn't have been having caffeine because my sleep schedule would be majorly screwed but I was probably gonna pass out on the floor without a little boost.
We all walked out of arrivals to where the line of cabs was waiting. The frigid air hit us almost immediately making me hiss.
I shuffled quickly into the back of the cab, letting the warmth of the heater.
"Ooh that was cold~" I shivered.
"I bet you want your beloved boyfriend to make you all warm," Jae attacked.
"I will end you," I warned.
"Please stop bickering you two!" Our mom raised her voice.
And just like we did when we were kids, we went quiet at the hand of mother's wrath.
The ride was about half an hour so we got to see a bit of the city at night coping with the winter weather.
It had been a while since we came but everything felt so familiar and homey. There was always something exciting about traveling to a city you've been to before. Occasional visits always make the time there more special. A home away from home.
We eventually arrived at my grandparents' house, tipping the driver before getting our luggage and approaching the door.
The door swung open to reveal the smiling faces of my grandparents.
"Ah, you're here!" My grandpa exclaimed.
My parents were the first to embrace them, with the sweetest smiles on their faces.
But Jae and I were quickly brought into the hug with them cooing and coddling us as if we were babies again.
"Ah look how big you two are!" My grandma fawned, cupping my face.
"It's only me grandma. He's still a kid," I teased.
"As if. You're the real kid," Jae retorted.
"I see they still banter like this," my grandpa chuckled.
"You have no idea dad," my mom sighed.
