you wake up under a small pile of rubble, the last thing you remember was an explosion which you got caught up in, you push the rubble off you and quickly look around, luckily you were in a deserted hallway however you could hear the war still going on outside and beneath you.

you look around still kind of dazed for your wand which you eventually find in two pieces next to you causing your blood to run cold, how were you supposed to defend yourself with no wand? if you rejoined the commotion you would for sure die within minutes

"what do i do?" you whisper to yourself

you try to stand up but quickly fall back down again as an agonising pain rushes through your leg making you cry out in pain

you look at your right leg to see your knee completely swollen and bleeding indicating it may have broken because of the explosion, now you could see it it was beginning to hurt even more, you try to stand up again and through the crying you managed to fall down into a corner praying you weren't going to be seen by any death eater who may wonder up there

down in the great hall Draco was frantically trying to find you, he hadn't seen you since before Potter had surprised everyone by still being alive even though the Dark Lord had used the killing curse on him. he was now certain his army was going to lose as many of them had retreated after Potter jumped out of Hagrids arms, two of them being his parents.

his mother begged him to go with them but Draco knew he couldn't leave without you and when he didn't see your face among the crowds, he was concerned.

"Blaise!!!!!" he called spotting his friend caring after Astoria

"you're still here?" Blaise asked as Draco joined him

"i can't find y/n have any of you seen her?" Draco asked panic clear in his voice

Blaise shook his head but Astoria snapped her eyes to Draco
"she was in the hallway above this floor but that was a long while ago, i don't know if she's hiding it out up there or-"

"no she wouldn't hide it out, something must have happened" Draco said his stress levels increasing by the second as he quickly turned around headed for the stairwell

"Draco! take my wand" Blaise calls chucking his friend his wand

Draco nodded a thanks and ran to the stairwell, once he reached the hallway he felt his heart stop at the sight, rubble was everywhere as was a load of blood

"crap" he mutters in panic

"y/n!!!!" he called out running down the hallway

your heart skipped a beat once you heard shuffling down the hallway until you heard his voice, relief spreading through your veins, you see Draco run past you not seeing you in the corner

"Draco" you cry out weakly

he quickly turns around his heart dropping at the sight of your slightly pale body which he quickly pushed to the back of his mind once he spotted the state of your knee rushing to your aid

"y/n your knee" Draco says mentally cursing himself for leaving your side in the first place

"i know it hurts like a bitch" you say wincing as you feel his cold hands lightly touch it as he examined your injury

"wheres your wand?" he asks you

"over there in the rubble, snapped in two" you say letting some tears fall "i'm screwed aren't i?"

Draco quickly shakes his head "no i'll make sure you get out of this alive, i'm not going to leave you"

"i can't even walk!!!" you exclaim accidentally jolting your leg causing you to yelp at the pain that shot through your leg once again

Draco could feel his heart break at the sight of the clear agony you were in, making him more determined to make sure you come out of this alive

"come on sweetheart i'll get you out of here" he says wrapping an arm around your waist helping you stand, you gripped onto his shoulder to stop you from shouting out from the pain

you both slowly walked towards the stairs and you paused causing him to look at you

"it's silent" you whisper

Draco listened for any sound whatsoever but you were right it was completely silent which put him on edge, he pulled out Blaise's wand and helped you down the stairs while keeping an eye out for any unwanted death eaters

eventually you both made it downstairs, carefully turning round the corner to see everyone sat together, nurses rushing round giving help to anyone who needed it.

Draco got a nurse to see to your knee and he headed towards Blaise who was sat by Astoria's side

"what happened?" Draco asked

"it's over, Potter killed him" Blaise explained "where is y/n is she ok?"

"she hurt her knee really bad but other than that she's ok" Draco says "she's with the nurse right now"

"can't believe we all made it out of this alive" Blaise said

"i know but at least it's over now" Draco says now feeling the exhaustion kick in

you were dosing off on a bed as the nurse worked on a potion to fix your knee, you felt someone take your hand causing you to open your eyes slightly

"anaesthetic is kicking in then" Draco asks stroking your hair softly

"mmhm apparently the potion that heals broken bones is rather painful" you say with a weak smile "is it over?"

Draco sends you a soft smile "yeah it's over, he's dead"

"good" you say drifting off to sleep

"rest my love, i'll still be here when you wake up, i promise" Draco says softly as the nurse gives you the potion

and he did, he stayed with you holding your hand, ignoring his own tiredness until you woke up again.
