news of the Yule Ball had ripped through Hogwarts, everyone desperately trying to find someone to go with, sort out outfits etc. honestly the whole thing was a lot and expectations were high, especially when the news broke that you were the Draco Malfoy's date to said ball.

y/b/f had taken you out shopping to get a dress but everything you saw just didn't seem fitting and it was starting to really stress you out.

you were both currently sat outside by the lake, exhausted after the day you both had.

"don't worry we'll go back out tomorrow and look again" y/b/f reassured after hearing a sigh leave your lips

"i just wish there wasn't so much pressure i mean i know he's a Malfoy but give a girl a break" you respond

"you're thinking too much into it. don't worry about what other people think, just get something you love. you and Draco have been secretly getting to know each other for months now i'm sure he won't care what you turn up in" y/b/f replied re arranging her scarf as the cold winter air blew softly in our direction

"that's easier said than done" you huff as a shiver rippled through your body

"shall we go back in? i can hardly feel my hands" y/b/f said laughing slightly

you smiled at her and nodded "yeah let's go"

as you both headed back inside, you heard someone call out your name making you turn around looking for the who the voice belonged to. you spotted Harry waving at you, jogging to try and catch up with you.

"hey Harry" you smile as he caught up

"hey y/n, y/b/f" he greeted "i was wondering if i could steal you for a moment" he asked looking at you

you nodded and looked at y/b/f "you go ahead i'll catch up with you in a bit"

"no worries" she smiled back "see you later Harry"

"have a nice evening y/b/f" he replied politely

"what's up?" you ask him as you both continued inside

"i just wanted to ask you if the rumours were true, about you and Malfoy going to the ball" he replied

you let out a little chuckle, of course Harry didn't believe the rumours "yeah they are, sorry i know you guys hate each others blood"

Harry scratched the back of his neck and gave you a small reassuring smile "it's no worries really, you're free to like whoever you like"

"why'd you ask anyway?" you asked him curiously

"well if it wasn't true i was going to see if maybe you wanted to go together, but it is true so it's nothing to worry about"

now you felt a little guilty, Harry had always been a good friend to you and now you're going to the ball with his enemy leaving him with no one.
"i'm sorry Harry, you know i would have loved to go with you if i wasn't going with Draco"

"no need to apologise y/n really. i hope you have a lovely time with him, just promise me you'll be careful, i've seen his nasty side and you deserve to be treated right" Harry says nudging your arm lightly with his elbow
