I didn't know how much time had passed since I stood outside the door of the dining room

I didn't know how much time had passed since I stood outside the door of the dining room. In the morning, the housekeeper came into the room, asked me to follow her, and left me standing there alone.

Somehow, I had the feeling that she wanted to get away from me as quickly as she could after seeing the injuries on my face, but it was always like that.

Henry had many employees; some were also women. I couldn't judge anyone because I knew they probably would have put their lives in danger if they had helped me, but on the other hand, I felt a bit left behind.

It felt like they were okay with what he was doing, but as soon as they saw a bruise or my condition, they lowered their gaze and seemed disgusted, making me think there was something wrong with me.

I already put my ear to the door and heard a few voices, but I didn't want to knock or walk in. I was hungry, but I would survive a few hours with water.

As I continued to stare at the door, it suddenly opened, and Ricardo appeared in my field of vision. He was wearing a suit, which reminded me I was still wearing his suit jacket around my shoulders.

He moved aside and held the door open for me but I hesitated, which he seemed to notice. He gave me an encouraging nod in the direction of the room, and somehow that helped me. I appreciated that we could communicate without words because it made some things easier for me.

When I entered the room, I saw four guys, including Alessandro, sitting at the table. Gradually, they noticed me.

One of them looked at me in a rather uncomfortable way. I could see that he wanted me out from the second I entered the room. But I couldn't blame him, at the end of the day, I was a stranger in his home.

The other two looked very similar, they could be twins. One of them stared at me surprised, and the other one looked back at something in his hand after a second.

"Don't tell me we have a long lost sister," the one with the surprised expression on his face said.

Ricardo just shook his head and led me to a chair on the left side of him, next to Alessandro and opposite of my not-so-biggest fan.

"Then who is she?" the other twin asked, putting his phone aside, his full attention now on me- or precisely on my injuries.

"Or rather, where did she come from, and how long is she staying?" My not-so-biggest fan asked.

I didn't know whether to feel offended by the fact they talked about me in the third person as if I wasn't there or thankful they didn't address me personally.

"Introduce yourself first," Ricardo said, and I got the feeling he wanted to save me from the questions.

"Rafael Esposito," the one across me grunted.

"Leandro, older twin."

"Pietro, and we're and only fraternal twins, so basically half twins."

"Alessandro, in case you forgot," he said and smiled at me.

"I didn't," I whispered back, and I didn't know what it was that made me feel comfortable around him, but I'll keep blaming his name for it.

Just then, I noticed the silence around me and everyone looking at me as if they were waiting for me to introduce myself. I did not want to say my name. And I also didn't want to lie to them, so I just did what I could do best and kept quiet.

Ricardo got my vibes and decided to save me, once again. "Let's eat."

I didn't move too much since I could feel Rafael's gaze on me most of the time, so I settled on the food that was closest to me. Most of the time, I was invisible till I exposed myself.

A loud ringing startled me, and I couldn't help but slightly flinch. I have only heard this noise a handful of times coming from Henry.

As Ricardo excused himself to talk on the square thing in his hand, I couldn't help but stare at him. He was doing it too, but why?

"Nameless, have you never seen someone talking on a phone?" Pietro asked with a laugh and was met with my silence.

Leandro suddenly changed his expression to a shocked one and laid his "phone" in front of me.

"Do you even know what a phone is?" he asked, and I couldn't help but feel embarrassed about how much I missed, but I wouldn't admit it.

"Of course I do," I said, but it didn't even sound convincing to me, so how could I convince them?

"Wait a damn minute," Pietro said and got up slowly again.

"Did you come with a time machine?" Leandro asked from the other side of the table.

"No offence, but are you... sane?" Pietro asked.

"Let her live." Alessandro defended me.

"If she doesn't know what a phone is, I don't think that whatever she did before coming here was living," Rafael said.

"Don't worry nameless, I'll teach you," Pietro said with a wink in my direction and finally sat back down.
