Chapter 4: Alternative Story

  
       Henriette D'Andresy. That was the name of his mother in this life. As a person who read a lot of works, he probably thought that it was a coincidence for the first 4 years of his life. But as he slowly grows up once again, he heard a lot of famous 'figures' from the stories of people around him. He also heard how are those people are 'living' or 'lived' their lives. Those figures are people that he once read within the books on his past life.

Once again, his views of the world were shattered. People that weren't supposed to exist, are living in this world. Raoul then concluded that this world is some kind of Alternate World. Since, how could he explain the presence of those people that were supposed to be the characters that he read in his past life?

Eventually, Raoul Andresy realized himself. His own identity. He knows who he was when he learned how his mother came upon the Dreux-Soubize's doorsteps. His Aunt in law told him the unhappy tale of his mother.

Henriette D'Andresy, his mother was a daughter of an aristocrat who fell in love with someone. His Grandfather was opposed to the relationship of his mother and father. Theophraste– his father, convinces his mother to elope. His mother agreed and as a consequence, she was disowned by his Grandfather.

Raoul knows that the love between his parents didn't last long. Henriette eventually learned of his father's crook ways. Theophraste reasoned with Henriette that being a gym teacher isn't enough for their living expenses so he must resort to illegal means. Henriette D'Andresy was a person of someone who has a high moral value. But out of love, she decided to accept his father's ways reluctantly. They would always fight when Henriette would learn that Theophraste would steal again and again. Eventually, Henriette learned another secret from her husband. He was being unfaithful to her. Henriette has finally decided that enough was enough. She left Theophraste taking Raoul with her.

Henriette D'Andresy knows that she wouldn't be accepted by her father. She decided to seek help from her cousin. Fortunately, her cousin was accommodating and welcomed her to his house warmly. She was treated as a guest and family. But she decided to also work as a Servant to repay her cousin for letting her and Raoul stay and welcomed on their home. She couldn't bear taking advantage of her cousin and she was uncomfortable at the thought of living for free and without payment. From then on, her mother learned many household chores and works. If her Father would see her right now, he wouldn't think that his pampered daughter would live this kind of life.

After telling the story, his uncle's aunt thought that his mother was a woman with principles. It was one of her admirable traits.

It was different from what he knows from the story. But some things remained unchanged. The fact that his mother is named Henriette D'Andresy and his father's name is Theophraste Lupin.

His full name is Arsene Raoul Andresy Lupin. And currently more known as Raoul Andresy, the little beloved and intelligent nephew of Duke Dreux-Soubize.

And he was the protagonist of Maurice Leblanc's works. The famous gentleman thief Arsene Lupin.

Is he perhaps reincarnated in the world of a game he once played called Persona 5?

       Under the fake smile of his mother, Raoul couldn't help but feel intimidated. Meanwhile, Mister Clovis, a famous playwright and troupe leader in Paris was sending him a hopeful look on his face. But it stopped when he realized that there was a strange atmosphere between the mother and child.

Raoul knows that he was in a precarious situation. Why must be a disaster befallen him this time? It wasn't just a few days ago that he was very late on returning home after visiting the children in the nearby towns.

  " And just by looking at Mister Clovis. It appears to be not a simple relationship. "

That statement sounded so wrong. Raoul thought inside his mind. He wanted to correct his mother and tell her to don't let people go to the wrong conclusions. But looking at his mother's expression, he hasn't enough courage. He learned his lesson previously so he wouldn't dare. The memories of that shameful punishment were still embedded in his mind.

" Could you explain how did you come upon Mister Clovis? "

A sweet and melodic voice came out from his mother's mouth. But underneath it, Raoul can feel the poison dripping upon those words. If he would lie, there would be some consequences.

His mother wouldn't care even he was intelligent and special. He would still be punished if he made a mistake or tell a lie, unlike his uncle and aunt who were lenient and doting on him.

Sighing, he gazes at Mister Clovis for a moment. He couldn't help but feel a little regretful for his decision of helping this man. But he still made the decision and now he was receiving the consequences. And in the end, it was worth it. He could still remember the smiles and sincere thanks of those people.

" Last year. Mother, do you remember that time that I convince uncle to go to Paris with him? "

" Yes. If I may have to guess... Did your uncle visit Mister Clovis and meet him during one of their plays? "

" Nope. " Raoul shook his head. "I insist on uncle on my desire to wander around Paris. "

Her golden eyes narrowed on him.

" He refuse and I decided to escape unnoticed without the guards. "

Raoul knows that he was screwed. But he continued on his narration in a cheerful and upbeat tone.

" Then, I got kidnapped, escaped, and meet one of Mister Clovis's troupe members while I was running away. Flash, forward– as thanks I decided to become a Muse for Mister Clovis and give some inspiration to him. The end. "

Mister Clovis, the clueless guest didn't find any fault when the respected mother and lady Henriette decided to discipline her son in anger. It seems the whole time, she was clueless that something dangerous happened to her son and she just learned of it. To make matter worse, Raoul decided to tell the story in a very lighthearted and cheerful manner.
