Eleven minutes to go.

The summer they were 28, Ben made plans to visit Leigh in New York for a week. She was a nervous wreck and vacuumed her apartment at least ten times the days before. It had been at least a year since they had seen each other, but she was sure that it was going to be like they had never been separated. Though that didn’t help her anxiety that made her stomach erupt in bubbly feelings and her heart to pound vigorously when she thought about it. When she headed to the White Plains airport, she was grinning and singing along to the radio in high spirits. 

When she saw him step into the baggage claim area, she ran to him and hugged him as tight as she could. He chuckled and it rumbled against his chest. “Miss me?”

“You got buff.” She commented when she finally stopped embracing him.

“That’s what happens when you join the military and are required to work out,” he teased as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

“The military looks good on you.”
