Things had started to settle down at Hogwarts and Aurora was quite thankful for it. Professor Quirill still hadn't acknowledged her, nor has Draco, nor her mum and father— but surprisingly enough she found herself content.
Tom would always have something sarcastic to say whenever she would spend her time with Ron and Harry, but since he never actually gave her a valid reason to stop being friends with them, she paid no mind to his petty comments.

About a month into being at Hogwarts had passed, and she was top of every class, extremely grateful for Tom Riddle's teachings. It was pretty much expected, considering she'd learned how to turn a mouse into a light box when she was five, this was nothing new to her. She was keen on her next meeting with Dumbledore, much to Tom's displeasure, because she wanted an actual challenge.

Tom would keep up his lessons in mild dark arts, but at this point, none of it was new to her so she'd usually get the spells on the first try. Rory was honestly surprised that the prefect was still willing to teach her cool magic— now that they were at Hogwarts, she figured he'd take some vacation. Tom really was brilliant, and she was quite thankful.

As the year flew by, the air outside on the vast, never-ending grounds surrounding grew colder. Leaves were turning orange, and the massive pumpkins growing in Hagrid's garden were getting alarmingly larger by the day. Aurora was currently sitting on one of the window seats in the maze of a castle, laughing with Harry and Ron before the Halloween feast tonight. They just had to go to DADA first, as it was the last class of the day for them.

"Wait, so you're telling me," Ron said as he wiped a tear from laughter, "that those explosions we heard on the first night were from you?!" He and Harry looked at her in disbelief.

"Yeah," Harry said, "Fred and George took the blame, so we all just figured, well ..."

Aurora giggled and leaned against the stained window, holding her diary in one arm and her school bag in the other.

"That's exactly what I'm telling you. Oh don't look at me like that, Ron, I'm not dangerous! Just don't gossip about me and you'll be fine, I reckon. I should probably apologize to Fred and George though, I probably gave them a right scare."

They all looked at each other before promptly bursting into another fit of laughter.

Aurora pulled herself together and slung her arms around their necks as they started to walk to Defense Against the Dark Arts, warmth filling her at the feeling of new friends. She wondered if they thought the same about her.

"Alright guys, in all seriousness," said Aurora, "I'm proud of our newest celebrity." She looked at Harry while Ron smirked, remembering how Snape referred to him as such on the first day, before swiftly humiliating the poor Potter boy.

"Really though, Harry, congratulations on making seeker for the team. You really are a hero! Oh, Ron catch me, I'm swooning!" She promptly let go of Harry's shoulders and fell into Ron while she pretended to faint.
