"What's this, Mr St- Dad?" Peter asked, swirling a liquid he didn't recognise in a glass vial. He'd been adopted by Tony a year ago, after May's sudden death, and was still unused to calling the man Dad, despite thoroughly loving every moment he spent at the tower. He was curious about the liquid because usually the test tubes and chemistry stuff were found in Bruce's lab, whereas Tony was more into mechanics.

"Uh, don't know." Tony looked up from his blueprint. "Unidentified substance, trying to work out the properties."

Tony stood up, brushing sawdust and metal shavings off his clothes. They swirled through the air in a little cloud, and Peter quickly pulled the tube away. Unfortunately, he was too late to stop some of the material from getting in the liquid, and in his haste to pull away, some of the stuff splashed onto Peter and Tony.

"Oh no, I am so sorry!" Peter reached out to wipe the liquid off his dad's arm, but as soon as they touched, there was a giant explosion and Peter was thrown backwards across the room.

Everything went black.

Peter woke up with a start, sitting up quickly and rubbing his head, which was swimming. He looked around the workshop, and quickly spotted Tony slumped on the opposite side of the room, unconscious.

"Dad!" Peter raced across the space, tripping over a toolbox he was sure hadn't been there a minute ago. He checked Tony for injuries, but he seemed mostly unharmed. However, Peter was no expert, so he decided to go and find a medic just in case. He dashed out of the workshop and along the hall to the private elevator, swiping his card and waiting for the doors to open. They didn't. He tried again. Nothing.

"Hey kid, what are you doing up here?" A familiar voice called. It was Ellie, the caretaker for this floor. Peter knew her well, and she'd been working at the tower for as long as anyone could remember. She'd be able to fix his card.

"Ellie!" Peter span around, and blinked in shock as she saw the woman in front of him. She was wearing the same uniform as he was used to, but her hair was not its usual grey but black with silver streaks. Her face, despite her frown, was considerably less wrinkled. "Uh..."

"Do I know you?" Ellie asked, still frowning.

"Um, no I think I just heard Da- Mr Stark talking about you once."

"Right. Do you need help getting out of the building?"

"Actually... Can I ask you a really weird question?"

Her eyebrows rose. "Yes?"

"What year is it?"

Her eyebrows crept even higher. "2016? Are you feeling alright?"

Peter blinked, shocked. He was pretty sure it had been 2018 that morning.

"Yeah... Thank you, ma'am!" He turned on his heel and hurried back to the workshop. Tony was just beginning to stir.

"Dad. Dad!"

"What is it, kid?" Tony groaned. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, but I'm pretty sure we've gone back into the past," Peter whispered, eyes wide.

Tony sat up very quickly, then groaned and clutched his head. "Haha, very funny."

"Dad, I'm being serious. I just-"

There was a knock on the door. "Come in," Tony called, getting back to his feet. Ellie opened the door, and Tony blinked, his expression going slack.

"Mr Stark," the caretaker greeted. "I just wanted to check everything was okay..." she gave Peter a suspicious glance.
