I grabbed my keys and opened the door to see my twin looking back at me.

"Hi, Karina.", he flashed a guilty smile.

"What did you do?"

"I got in a fight. I'm suspended from campus for the semester."

"What?! You've been there for a week."

"Yeah, that's why you can't tell mom and dad."

"The school is going to call them, Giovanni."

"And they have your number on file.", he smirked.

I shook my head at him.

"Look, I have to go. I'll be back, alright?"

He nodded and headed into our small kitchen.

I sighed and headed downstairs to Griffin's apartment.

The door opened before I could knock. It was Griffin.

"Hey, babe. I was just coming to see you.", he wrapped his arms around me.

I squeezed him back before pulling away.

"Karina, what's wrong? Have you been crying?"

"Can we talk?"

"Of course."

He led me through his apartment and into his bedroom.

"What's going on?"

"When we first got together, we were talking about all of our exes. Remember that?"

"Yeah. I told you about Natalia, and you told me about that guy who works with your dad, um...damn, what was it? Bruno! Why? Did he do something?"

I sat down and patted the seat next to me. He sat down.

"Baby, tell me what happened?"

"I never left him.", my voice cracked.

Griffin stood up abruptly and looked at me.

"What the fuck do you mean you never left him?", his voice dripping with hate and anger. He was visibly shaking in front of me.

I wiped a tear away.

"I mean, Bruno and I were on a break when you and I got together, and then we weren't and I should've ended things completely with one of you, but I didn't want to hurt anyone. And then I fell in love with you and it was too late. I was yours and we were happy. I ended up breaking up with Bruno."

I peeked up at Griffin but looked back down once I saw the pure hatred in his eyes.

"You said you never left him..."

"I broke up with him a week before summer. When I went back home, he showed up in my room and he wanted to talk. I told him about you and he told me he loved me. He kissed me and -."

"Please, stop.", he nearly sobbed.

"Baby, I'm so sorry that I hurt you. I-I wasn't thinking about how this could hurt you."

"When was the last time you cheated on me, Karina?"

I cried as I put my face in my hands.

"When?!", he shouted.

"He showed up tonight. I ended it for good."

"Did you sleep with him?"

I nodded slowly.

"Get out."

"Griff."

"No, you don't get to call me that. Not anymore."

"Please Grif-."

"-No. I have loved you since the moment I met you. There was never anyone else for me. You were all I needed, but I wasn't enough for you."

"You are enough, Griffin. I love you. I-."

"You are a liar and a cheater and I want you to leave."

I nodded and stood up.

He wouldn't meet my eye. He flinched as I placed my hand on his arm.

"Please, don't hate me."

He nodded slowly and I saw tears roll down his cheeks.

I left his apartment and went back to mine.

I walked into my apartment to see my brother watching TV. He looked up at me and paused his show.

"Hey, you okay?"

I burst into tears and reached for him. He rushed to me.

"Hey, what's wrong?"

"I did something bad."

I felt like a scared kid again who just broke mom's favorite mug, confiding in her twin who was trying his hardest to protect her.

He led me to the couch and we sat down.

"I told my boyfriend about Bruno."

"What boyfriend? And Bruno? Karina, are you still...with him?"

"His name is Griffin. We've been dating since last March."

"And Bruno?"

"I left him tonight. I ended it because I was tired of lying to everyone. I was tired of hearing his lies. I told Griffin the truth and now he hates me."

"Karina, you shouldn't have led him on like that."

"I didn't lead him on. I love him. I just-."

"Rina, just give him some time."

I nodded. I laid my head on his shoulder.

"I love you, Gio."

"I love you too, Rina."
