🚨Trigger Warning: Graphic Sexual Assault
I was back in the boat again. Hidden in the cargo hold, trying not to cry out from the pain as well as the shock I had just endured.
Only this time, there was something wrong.
The boat began to rock, violently swaying from side to side. The motion was beginning to make me feel ill.Suddenly the boat tipped far enough over to begin taking on water. I started to panic. I had no idea where we were, but I knew it was the middle of the ocean.
The water was collecting around my hands and knees where I was kneeling. I decided to take my chances with the men on board rather than drown in the cargo hold.
I opened the hatch and climbed out, fully expecting a fight. I stopped and stared, completely stunned. There was nobody there.
Did they already jump off?
I glanced around in all directions. There was no sign of anyone anywhere. There was also no land in sight. It was as though the boat had been driving itself to an unknown destination, me being a reluctant passenger.
I began frantically searching for a life jacket, inflatable raft, or literally anything that might save my life. I knew I was bleeding, I couldn't be in the water.
And then it was too late. The boat fully capsized, sending me tumbling down into the depths. My injuries proved bad enough to prevent me from swimming, and I watched helplessly as the light from the surface got farther and farther away.
This was it. This would be how I died. It was strangely peaceful.
I turned my eyes downward, accepting my fate. But there was something there. I watched as the shape grew larger. It was moving so fast, I almost didnt have time to fear what was happening until the jaws of the shark clamped down onto my body.
••••••••
I heard someone scream, waking me with a start. It took me a few seconds to realize that the scream had come out of my own mouth.
The sudden shock from the nightmare was quickly replaced by a violent bout of nausea, causing me to roll from my cushion as I vomited on the floor.
My hands were uncontrollably shaking, and I broke out into a cold sweat. I was relatively sure I was feverish.
This isn't good.
I glanced down, noticing the blood had seeped through my bandages and onto my tank top. I had no idea of the time, but it was still dark outside. The moon was shining brightly again, the storm had thankfully missed me. There was just enough light for me to work by. I was going to have to deal with this now.
I slowly removed my top, wincing at the pain caused by raising my arms over my head. I unwrapped the bandages, tossing them into the puddle of vomit. Even from the little light I had available I could tell that the wound was angry and red, probably getting infected.
I was by no means versed in medicine, but I assumed that if the knife had penetrated anything important I'd be dead already.
Just my luck, survive a knife to the abdomen just to get taken out by something you can't even see without a goddamn microscope.
Actually, there wasn't a guarantee I would even live that long, with Shadow after me. My best hope would be to stay on the move, something that was seemingly more impossible with every hour that had passed over the last day.
