🚨Smut Warning

I stared at myself in the mirror, barely recognizing the person looking back at me.

I'd gone through the quite extensive wardrobe Maya had provided me, overwhelmed at the amount of choices. Anything black had been pulled out and promptly thrown in a corner of the room. I felt guilty just throwing them in the trash, but I figured maybe someone else could use them, so I set them aside.

I'd settled on a pair of tight distressed jeans, and a cropped tank similar to what Maya had worn today, but deep purple instead of olive green. I had briefly wondered whether these clothes had been provided from her own personal wardrobe, as they all seemed to suit her style.

I had been a little taken aback at the provided undergarments, most of them lacy and sexier than anything I'd ever worn in my life. The ones I'd chosen today were a charcoal gray matched set.

I had pulled my hair back, after discovering the products and toiletries that had been left in the small bathroom. I felt like a guest at a fancy hotel.

And damn I look good.

I hadn't bothered with the makeup, never having worn it and not really knowing what to do with it. Nevertheless, I felt more confident than I maybe ever had.

I laced up a pair of brown combat boots. There were other footwear options, but these were what I was most comfortable in.

I had explored the room quite thoroughly, and was impressed with the style. Lots of neutral colors, with a pop of something brighter here and there in the artwork or decoration. Like the rest of the building, there were also multiple plants, which I hoped I would manage to keep alive.

The kitchenette had been stocked with some basics, but not much, mostly snacks, and I assumed it was because most people ate in the cafeteria. By the door sat a small bar cart, stocked with glassware and a limited selection of liquor and wine. I knew I'd make good use of that later.

The grey couch faced away from the door, aimed toward the wall where a TV was mounted. This is where I decided to plop down for the time being, rather than the bed, because I knew after such an early morning I'd probably fall asleep if I laid down even briefly. The headboard of the bed was on the same wall as the TV, the bathroom door between them, adjacent to the kitchenette. I'd given it a quick bounce earlier, and was honestly looking forward to a good night's rest somewhere other than that hospital bed.

I turned on the TV to relax, and wait for Maya to come back.

The next thing I knew I was being awakened by something brushing down my right arm. I bolted upright, terrified, to see Maya leaning over me.

Well so much for not falling asleep.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to startle you...I tried knocking but there was no answer, and your door was unlocked so I just came in..."

"Hey, don't worry about it," I said, interrupting her apologetic rambling, trying to calm down.

My heart was about to beat out of my chest. There had been more than one occasion at Shadow when someone had woken me in the night with bad intentions, usually with a hand over my mouth.

"I checked on you earlier and saw you were asleep, but I thought I'd better wake you at some point, you slept through lunch and dinner," Maya said. She then handed me a sandwich, which I saw was a muffuletta after unwrapping it.

"Wow, thanks," I said. "I'm actually starving."

I turned off the TV and began eating, but could see Maya watching me in my peripheral vision, making me nervous. She had eyed my body up and down, and was now watching my mouth as I ate.
