🚨 Smut Warning

I was startled awake as we landed on the roof of the Agency, having fallen asleep in Midas' arms, the exhaustion from the events of the day catching up to me.

I saw Remedy and Darren on the roof, amongst others, the scene very reminiscent of the night he was shot.

"Midas, let us take her," Remedy spoke.

"No," he replied.

His grip on me hadn't lessened since the moment he'd picked me up off the basement floor.

He stood with me and stepped out of the helicopter, shoving everyone aside with his shoulders. After he pushed through the crowd I was stunned as we were suddenly face to face with Rox.

She blanched at the realization he was carrying me, her skin turning a shade even paler than his. I noticed she had a black eye, and a cut on her lower lip.

"You...you found her," she said, in shock.

The fucking AUDACITY.

My emotions released like an avalanche. "Get her AWAY FROM ME!!!" I screamed, recoiling in fear, causing Midas to almost drop me.

He stared at me wide-eyed, surprised at my reaction.

I was sobbing now. "She fucking tried to KILL me!!!"

I hadn't yet spoken to Midas about what had happened, and I could only assume she'd made up some elaborate story about us being attacked, her beaten face undoubtedly part of the plot.

She had probably figured I'd drowned, and thought his mission to retrieve me would be fruitless. She'd come up to the roof to greet him when he returned, to be his shoulder to cry on after I was gone. To replace me.

"You lying BITCH!!!" she yelled.

God, she's good at this.

"I would NEVER...she begged to come with me after I warned her it was a bad idea...I didn't..."

"That's not how I remember it at all," Tek spoke up from behind us, interrupting her. She hadn't seen him there.

She barely flinched, and continued, ignoring what he'd said. "I didn't want her there, but...but I tried to protect her for you...I told you what happened, that...that idiot got us caught by Shadow...hell, I'm lucky to even be alive after what she did."

I spoke up then. "BULLSHIT...she kicked me out of the goddamn helicopter, we never even landed," I managed to say between sobs.

I felt Midas' breath hitch at this revelation, and the hurt from her deception was written all over his face.

He turned to Tek, and wordlessly reached my body out to him. I still had the blanket over me, but I was nude below it, and it was strange to feel his robotic arm slide underneath my bare thighs as he took me.

Midas turned back around to face Rox, and I could see her facade starting to crack as she grew desperate.

"Are you serious??? REALLY??? You're gonna take that slut's word over mine? TELL him, David...tell him what happened."

She was pointing at one of the henchmen nearby, and I could see him stutter step backwards in fear at being called out. Nobody ever would have known which one of them had been flying if she hadn't just thrown him under the bus.

"I've always been loyal to you, why can't...why can't you see how much I love you...I've always loved you..." she said, crying now.

Midas was slowly walking towards her. She stood her ground.
