OWENS POV
I was sitting in the waiting room panicking. Amelia can't die. She's my whole world. She can't die. I sat in the chair and zoned out. Charlotte was with my mom and Carolyn. I thought about the first time I met Amelia.

"Dude my sisters coming to town," Derek complained as we walked into the elevator.
"Liz?" I asked.
"Amelia," he said, "she's something else." I chuckled as the doors opened. We walked into the lobby and a beautiful brunette walked into the building. I can't be thinking about her like that. I'm dating Teddy, who I've liked forever. But Amelia was so pretty. Derek started showing her around but then his pager went off.
"Owen can you show Amy the rest of the wing?" He asked.
"Yeah sure," I shrugged. Amelia walked next to me and I smiled.
"Are you staying here," I asked.
"Yeah I'm moving out here," she said softly.
"Where from?" I asked.
"LA," she said.
"Well what's wrong with LA?" I joked. She got quiet so I figured I hit a nerve.
"Anyway this is the cafeteria," I said.
"Cool can we eat I'm starving," she said.
"Sure," I said. We got lunch and sat down at a table.
"Who's the blonde that looks like she wants to kill me," Amelia joked and looked across the room. I followed her gaze and saw Teddy.
"My girlfriend Teddy," I said.
"Oh," she said, "I should probably move."
"It's okay," I said, "Teddy knows Derek has plenty of sisters. She'd like to meet you."
"Okay," Amelia said. I waved Teddy over and looked back at Amelia. God was she pretty.

Ever since that day I thought she was stunning. Inside and out. I fell in love with her so quick and it was unfair to Teddy to continue. Teddy was my lifelong best friend, but we weren't meant to be together romantically. We were better as just friends. I broke it off and stayed friends with Amelia for years. She was my other half. We slept over each other's houses and told each other everything. She was my everything. I don't know what I would do if she didn't survive. I wouldn't survive. I don't know how I would possibly begin to raise Charlotte on my own. I couldn't do it. I sat back in my chair as I felt the tears form.

"Owen you're literally so boring," Amelia complained as she grabbed a Christmas ornament from the closet.
"I am not," I protested.
"I'm your only friend," Amelia said.
"You don't have any other friends either," I chuckled as I took the ornament from her and hung it on a higher branch.
"Fine maybe we don't need other friends," she chuckled.
"We don't," I shrugged, "I like spending time with you."
"Well me too," she smiled. She was my best friend, but deep down I loved her. It was Christmas Eve and she was the only person I wanted to be with. We've been friends for three years and I want to tell her.
"Do you have any food?" Amelia asked as she walked into the kitchen.
"No I starve," I said.
"Wouldn't put it pass you to not go food shopping," she said.
"Are you staying over?" I asked.
"Do you want me to stay over?" She asked.
"Yeah why not. It's Christmas after all," I said.
"Okay Mr.Sentimental," she laughed.
"I hate you," I said.
"Uh huh," she said, "I call right side of the bed."
"I know," I chuckled, "it's your side of the bed."
"Aw I have my own side," she chuckled.

I broke from my thoughts when Charlotte started fussing in my arms.
"Hey," I said softly and kissed her head.
"Do you want me to take her?" Carolyn offered.
"No it's okay I got her," I said softly, "thank you though."
"Did it look really bad?" Carolyn asked softly, "do you think, as a doctor, that she's going to be okay?"
"Yeah," I nodded. I didn't know if I believed it, but I had to believe it, and so did Carolyn.
"Owen," Meredith said.
"Yeah?" I asked. She motioned towards a doctor standing in the hallway. I got up and my mom took Charlotte from me. I walked down the hallway and the doctor looked at me.
"Your wife is okay," he said.
"Oh my god thank you," I said and hugged him.
"She's in a lot of pain from refusing pain meds, I think it's best if just you go in to see her right now," he said.
"Okay," I nodded. I walked back into the waiting room and my family got up.
"Is she okay?" Maggie asked.
"What did the doctor say?" Carolyn asked.
"He said that Amelia is okay, but he said she's in a lot of pain right now, and thinks it's best if I just go in first to see her, and then you can all come in once she's calmed down. Does that sound okay with everyone?" I asked.
"Yeah," Meredith nodded. I left Charlotte with Carolyn as I walked down the hall to Amelia's door. I opened it and she looked up at me.
"Hey you," I said.
"Hey," she sniffled. I walked over and wrapped her in a hug.
"The doctor said you were in a lot of pain," I said softly, "you okay?"
"It really hurts," she said. I kissed her head as I kept her in my arms.
"I love you," she said.
"I love you too," I said.
"Where's Charlotte?" She asked.
"She's with our moms," I said.
"Okay," she said. I sat down next to her and she was fidgeting with her fingers which meant she was nervous.
"We need to talk about something," she said softly.
