The past week at school had felt long. And that's an understatement.

I'd lost my best friend and.. um, Kuroo, in one day. Kenma was practically the only one still talking to me, but everytime we hung out or texted or kissed, I couldn't help but feel guilty. Instead of butterflies and and adrenaline, all I felt in this relationship was a lingering sense of dread.

Akari, understandably, hadn't spoken to me since she ran off the other day when she found out Kenma and I were dating. I didn't blame her. I was a sucky friend, but I had no idea how to get out of this situation without hurting atleast one other person.

I wish I could have just stayed at Karasuno. Life was simpler then.

Worst part was, I couldn't avoid these awkward situations. I had to see Kuroo in the halls and every time at volleyball practices. We'd make eye contact, and I felt his gaze burn into me everytime, even though we'd both look away as soon as possible.

The tension was getting to be too much. I even considered dropping volleyball, but I couldn't just abandon the team like that. They needed a manager, and I was pretty sure the last one had officially quit after her concussion.

Plus, quitting would be like letting Kuroo win, and there was no way in hell I'd let that happen.

He wanted to be rivals again? Fine.

I woke up Saturday morning to a bunch of mixed texts from Kiyoko asking me to call her. I texted back asking why she couldnt just text me, but she didn't respond. I sighed, and dialed her number.

She picked up almost immediately, as if she had been waiting for my call.

"Y/n" She said from the other side of the phone, and I could hear the smile in her voice.

"Hey, Kiyoko-chan," I replied, rolling my eyes, "What was so important you couldn't just text me?"

"Well, first of all, I wanted to hear your voice," She let out a light laugh, "Second, I wanted to ask if you'd come to this party with me tonight?"

"A party?" I raised an eyebrow, "Where?"

"It's at Kageyama's house. He lost a bet and had to throw a party for all the volleyball guys."

I snickered, "I bet he's real happy about that."

Kiyoko returned the laugh, "Yeah, right. But it would still be a good chance for us all to meet up. I know it's a bit far but if you can make it, I'd love to see you. We all would."

I contemplated for a second. A party with my closest friends was exactly what I needed right now.

"I think I can come," I told her, "I'll just have to check with my mom. Hopefully she won't insist on driving me and lets me come by myself on a bus."

Kiyoko snickered, "Good luck with that. See you then, I hope."

We said our goodbyes and I hung up. Phone still in my hand, I sent Kenma a text to tell him I was busy, just in case he thought me and him would do something. He responded quick, telling me to have a good day and that he'd see me soon.

I sighed and put away the phone. Kenma was such an angel. How could I ever hurt him?

When my mom got home, she agreed almost immediately to let me go to the party (after all, it was at Kageyama's house), but it took some convincing to let me go alone on a bus.

I spent the rest of the day trying to pick out an outfit. It was a party, and you never know who might show up. I was nervous too, for some reason.

I ended up wearing a simple dress that flattered me perfectly, and left my hair open. Looking at how good I looked in the mirror, I took a deep breath, a bit of heaviness leaving my chest. I really needed this.
