The next morning I woke up to do my quick morning jog. I thought about it all night long and I guess I'll try out. No tellin if I'll make the team. But at least I'll try. I woke Rose' up and hooked him on the leash I had found in my moms room. I had already took a quick shower and was now wearing a baby blue sports bra and some black jogging pants. I threw a jacket over my shoulders so I wasn't showing too much skin. Tamia was still asleep so I let her rest. Rose' and I were going to jog down to the park I seen when we first moved here. We power walked to it and then ran around it a couple times. After a while of running, I stopped to stretch for a minute. When Rose' seen a squirrel sprint up a tree. He took off! I gasped and ran after him.
He kept running although I called his name. He turned a corner and this boy stopped him. Rose' jumped on him in an excited way.
"Oh no!" I yelled running over to them.
"I am so sorry." I apologize to the boy tugging Rose' off his legs. "It's good ma." He brushes himself off. I looked up at him and seen he was shirtless and fine as hell! Its like my eyes got stuck on his 6 pack for a moment. Once I got my eyes to look at his eyes I seen he was staring into mine. He smirked while looking back at me. I cleared my throat and tried to tug Rose' along back home. But the boy stopped me.
"Hol' up! I cant get the name of the owner of the ONLY dog that likes me." He jokes while smiling . "And the prettiest girl ive seen?" He adds walking closer to me. I laughed/blushed hard while pushing some hair behind my ear.
"Chanelle. Chanelle brookes." I shake his hand. I try to pull away but he doesn't let go.
"Chanelle. That name would look great in my phone." He smiles. I could feel my cheeks heating up more as my smile widened. "Yeah, well I'm pretty sure all the other girl names on there look good too." I smirk while taking my hand back and placing it on my hip.
"Maybe. But yours would be the best." He smiles letting his deep dimples show. Ah lord. Dimples are my weakness! He holds his phone out to me. I sigh as I take it. I put my number in quickly then hand it back to him. I was gonna walk away when he grabbed my hand gently.
"Hol up. Lemme make sure this number is real." He says making me laugh. He dials the number and my phone rings 'Teyana Taylor'. I show him the screen and smile.
He puts his hands up in surrender.
"Aight my bad shawty. Just makin sure, you ain't tryna play me. I'll call you later." He swipes my chin with his finger and sends me a wink before continuing...whatever the hell he was doing. I was so stuck on shy, I forgot to ask his name.
"Hey! You ain't tell me your name!" I call out to him. He turns around with a smile.
"Hakeem. Hakeem Lyon." He smiles before walking again. My eyes widened a little.
Hakeem? No! It couldntve been the Hakeem every body was talkin bout at lunch. Right? That guy was too nice. So maybe their different people. I tried to brush the feeling off but it just stayed on my mind. He didn't look too much of a football player. There were no side kicks or nun beside him and he looked... Cool, calm and collected. Instead of the rude, conceided, jock, screw every girl he sees, ass hole--everyone makes him out to be. So I doubt it was him.
I thought to myself as I jogged back home with Rose' running behind me.
~Back home~
I got home just in time because Tamia was just waking up. She sat up in the bed and scratched her eyes. I entered the room and started to strip.
"Come on buddy, we gon be late for try outs." I say making her pop up. She was wide awake now.
"Ahhh! Yes! Watch we gon own the floor." She daps me up. I laugh slightly "Don't get your hopes up cuz you said yo coach tough. So she may not think I'm too good of a dancer." I shrug.
