Hakeem and I were at my house now. The car ride was silent. Not an awkward silence, but a peaceful silence. And as soon as we pulled up to the house Hakeem grabbed my hand and led me up to my room. And before we left he said we needed to talk. So...I didn't know exactly what we had to talk about. But I was nervous. Too nervous. I mean I love teasing Hakeem, that's why I came up with up this lil friendship. I knew our friendship wouldn't last because, well just think about it. Him being around me always flirtin. Me always giving in. It's bound to lead to something. Right? I guess so. Because here we are.
We sat on my bed just looking in each others eyes for a minute. I sat Indian style, with the bear he won me at the carnival, in my lap. He sat infront of me just watching my hands scadaddle with the bear. We made eye contact every now and then but I tried to avoid it. Not to be rude or anything, I'm just not a person to make too much eye contact when I'm nervous.
"Okay so what do we need to talk about?" I finally ask nervously. He took a minute before answering me.
"Aight. We both know that this friendship ain't gon work. I know, you know, I been feelin you for a while. And that I wanna be more than a friend to you. And I think you want to be more than a friend to me. Right?" He asks knowing the answer.
"Yeah." I blush nervously. I can't believe I'm doing this.
"I'm not gone front with you no more. You know how I get down. I don't do all this love and committed shvt. But with you it's different. I'm willing to settle down with you. It'll be an adjustment, but for you.... I'll do it. I PROMISE I ain't gon hurt you. In any way, shape or form. You a real female that every nigga want on they arm. Especially me. And you know that. I mean why are we playing all these games? We not no fuvking 7th graders! All we do is make out. Touch all on each other. Be close to fuvking til you stop it. So why'on't we just stop playin games and make it official." He looks at me.
"Hmm." I play with my teddy bear for a while, while thinking.
"Chanelle? What do you think?" He asks me showing no nervousness at all.
Honestly, I do want to make it official but it's too risky. Hakeem and me? A couple? Iont know. It's has drama and trouble written all over it. But ima stop bein a baby and just give it a risk. I mean I like Hakeem. I really do. It's just....One day I'll be willing to give him every part of me. But other times I'm ready to kill him or have nothing to do with him. I don't know maybe I'm bipolar or sum shvt. I thought for a couple more minutes before coming to a conclusion.
I smirk while finally looking up at him.
"I'm waiting." I say still smirking.
"For what?" He shrugs.
"Ask me." I say. He knows what I'm talking bout.
"Are we really doing this?" He sighs.
"Do you really want me on your arm?" I raise my eyebrow at him. He took a minute to respond as I played with my bear again.
"Fine." He sighs turning his whole body to face me. "Chanelle. Will you be my girl?" He smiles.
I look up from the teddy bear and look him in his eyes.
"Beg." I tell him. His smile drops and he looks at me crazy.
"What?" He asks confused.
"On your knees. Beg." I demand.
"No. Uh uh." He shakes his head. I shrug. "Okay. If that's what you want." I say knowing I'll win. I heard him sigh loudly and I felt him moving around on the bed.
"Remember paybacks a bitch." He says while getting on his knees. "Chanelle.... Will you please do me the honor of being my gurl?" He begs.
I smile widely. "Okay." I give in still smiling.
