Chapter 21

They soon arrived at Demi's place

"Alright, where are the outfits?" Axle asked

"Oh! On my bed" Demi said as she locked the door and Axle went to the room, studying the outfits and then making one from the options.

He chose a crop top, a pair of jean shorts with lace on the side and a pair of flats as Demi walked in

"Here"

"Oh.. wow.. that's super cute!" Demi giggled "I'm mad I didn't think of that" She smiled "But thank you"

"No problem, want me to wait until Charles gets here or should I go?"

"Wait.. please" Demi said, and Axle nodded but left the room, going to the living room and waiting for Demi to change, humming a little bit.

Demi changed and then left the room, heading to Axle and spinning around to show off, causing him to chuckle

"You look great" Axle said and she smiled softly, plopping down beside him, and leaning against him

"Thank you" She said and Axle draped his arm around her

"Demi, relax... you're shaking, are you really that nervous?" Axle asked and she gave a little nod

"Yeah.. I'm excited and nervous and I feel like I'm going to puke"

"Well, breathe.. please don't puke" Axle said a bit playfully and Demi giggled

"I won't, I just.." Demi started and then sighed, Axle giving a little squeeze

"Just relax, close your eyes and take deep breaths"

"Ok, ok" She nodded and closed her eyes, Axle starting to count as she took deep breaths, letting them out when he counted down and she soon managed to calm her nerves

"Thank you" Demi said softly after several moments

"Hey, it's no problem. Just have fun, there's no reason to freak out, Demi. He definitely likes you, it's going to be fine" Axle reminded her and she nodded

"You're right, thank you" She smiled and then her phone went off.

She checked the message and took a deep breath

"Alright, he's here" Demi smiled and Axle motioned for her to go

"Have fun.. remember to keep me updated"

"I will, bye!" She waved and left before Axle got up, looking around the place and cleaning it up a bit before he decided to leave.

He made his way home to make some food, deciding to make this walk into a nice jog, getting in some cardio.

Once he got home, he cooked up a small snack and then decided to continue his workout in his basement, which was actually furnished and quite spacious, filled with equipment.

He went to his workout area and did his normal routine, having pushed himself quite a bit and emded up working out for just over 2 hours.

After heading back upstairs, he decided to shower and then make lunch before his phone went off with a message.

Upon checking his phone, he read that Demi was having a blast, they just finished up at the arcade and were going for lunch.

Demi was quite happy, walking hand in hand with Charles, who was also carrying the food for their little picnic, figuring they would just go to the park and sit under a tree and talk, Demi being perfectly fine with this idea.

"Texting Axle?" Charles asked and Demi nodded

"Yeah, he wanted me to keep him updated"

"Is he really that protective?" Charles asked, purely out of curiosity and she gave a small laugh

"You have no idea. I was bullied in like the 6th grade for maybe a week because the people that were bullying me had a run in with Axle and Axle scared them so badly that one even transferred schools.. I still have no idea what he did to them" Demi started, shaking her head a bit

"Oh! And in high school there was a similar situation, but that one I know got physical and the guy was in the hospital for a bit" Demi said and Charles felt his eyes widen

"Got it" Charles laughed a little "Don't worry, I won't do anything to hurt you, but now I shall try 100 times harder to make sure absolutely nothing happens to you.. I do not want to meet an angry Axle" Charles added and Demi laughed

"Nothing? Really?"

"Yeah, you won't even fall if you trip, I promise" Charles said and Demi laughed harder

"You're such a dork"

"I sure hope that's a good thing" Charles chuckled

"It is" Demi smiled and kissed him on the cheek, causing Charles to smile brightly, his face tinting a bit red

They chose a spot in the park to sit before they started talking some more

"So.. are you and Axle siblings?" Charles asked and she shrugged

"Technically we're cousins and only siblings through adoption.. but he's always been more of an older brother to me" Demi explained and Charles nodded

"I see.. yeah.. you guys definitely seem like siblings but you two don't look like siblings"

"We really don't, Axle looks more like my late uncle rather than my late aunt and I look more like my mom, and for a bit of reference, my mom and aunt are sisters" Demi said with a soft smile and Charles hummed

"Ok, that makes sense.. that's actually pretty cool that you two are so close"

"You think? People used to think it was weird" Demi said, a little surprised

"Yeah.. I wish I was that close to my cousins or at least wasn't an only child" Charles chuckled some, rubbing the back of his neck before continuing

"But yeah, I think it's pretty cool, family is important" Charles spoke while he got the picnic ready, setting out the food and such, Demi helping

"I agree, family is very important" Demi smiled and relaxed once it was all set up, sitting beside Charles

"Did you make all of this?" Demi asked and Charles shrugged

"For the most part.. I bought the dessert and the juice and water" Charles smiled

"That's amazing!" She said with an impressed and excited tone, taking a quick photo of the setup and sending it to Axle before her and Charles started eating, Charles keeping an arm around Demi, who was quite pleased with this.

The two talked a bit more, just getting to know each other more.

Charles was pretty into gaming and that got Demi excited, knowing they would have to play together, at least soon.

They got into a conversation about their favorite video games and the ones that they've both played, getting along rather well and both quite happy, the topics changing back and forth between games, to favorite foods, movies, books, whatever they could think of.

They spent most of their time talking and eating before Charles remembered they had a movie to get to, so he soon spoke

"We should get packing up soon, we have that movie to catch still"

"Oh! That's right!" Demi said and laughed a little "Definitely lost track of time" She added and Charles smiled

"I definitely don't mind, it's nice to really talk to you after all" Charles said, helping Demi up and then packing things away before they walked back to the arcade to get the car.

Demi sent Axle another quick text, who just finished eating meal 3, though he still had one more, which he would eat with Viktor, figuring they could make it an every night deal, like him coming over.

He checked the message and smiled, really glad that Demi was having a good time and figured he would start cooking the food now so he could head over to Viktor's earlier and hopefully catch the sunset since Viktor had seemed so fond of it.

Axle wanted to see the way Viktor's eyes lit up again, wondering what else the Vampire has yet to really experience in order to make them do so.
