Chapter 12

Viktor was awake, tidying up the place a bit and hearing a knock and figuring it was Axle, so he opened the door without hesitation, looking up at him and moving out of the way

"Hello.. you've come back" Viktor stated

"You can at least act like you're happy to see me" Axle said and walked in with a soft chuckle

Viktor was about to respond, but caught movement, looking towards where it came from and practically staring, focusing on his sense of smell and hearing, but he didn't catch anything out of the ordinary and then closed the door before he looked to Axle, who looked concerned

"I thought I saw something is all" Viktor said and walked to the living room and Axle decided to take a seat as well

"Before anything else.. I have something pretty important to say" Axle said, catching Viktor's attention

"A man in town seems to be doing a survey, they want this plot of land to use and your house gone" Axle stated quickly and Viktor felt his eyes widen

"What?!" Viktor shot up "They can do no such thing" The small male huffed

"They're definitely trying though... just cause it seems like no one lives here"

"Yes, I'm well aware what it looks like.. but-" Viktor started, but then Axle's phone began ringing and he flinched a bit

"Shit.. I have to take this" Axle said, a feeling of worry building up since Demi was the one that didn't call a whole lot unless it was urgent

Axle answered the phone, Viktor curiously looking at the device to the best of his abilities without being completely obvious

"Hey, Demi, you ok?" Axle asked

"Yeah, I'm fine... but some guy just came to my house and asked me the strangest thing"

"About Viktor's house?" Axle asked

"Yeah, that's exactly it" Demi replied, a bit shocked

"I had the same weird thing earlier... I also saw him around town a lot before you went to work, but I've already informed Viktor" Axle stated, looking at Viktor, who visibly seemed confused, but also looked like a curious child and Axle very softly chuckled, putting the phone on speaker as Demi spoke

"Good.. Why are you laughing, dweeb?"

Demi asked and Axle chuckled harder as Viktor tilted his head, eyebrows furrowed in confusion

"Sorry... I just... I think Viktor's mind was just blown" Axle asked and the vampire perked up "it's a phone, I'll explain in a second"

"A.. phone?" He asked and Axle nodded

"Yeah" Axle said and laughed "Demi, say hi"

"Hello~" She said in a sing song voice, which caused Viktor's eyes to widen some in surprise

"H..Hello?" Viktor said softly, and Demi giggled "How?" Viktor asked and Axle smiled

"It is complicated" Axle told Viktor before speaking again "Hey, Demi, I'm going to let you go.. I say we keep an eye on that guy of we see him again.. He gives me this weird feeling" Axle spoke

"Alright, and he does give off a weird vibe.. Anyways, have fun, see you in the morning" She said before she hung up

Axle then got up and took Viktor's hand, putting the phone in it and turning on the screen, causing Viktor's face to light up and he studied it, touching the screen.

Axle chuckled softly, letting Viktor mess with the device, but also guided his hand, as some would do with a small child, and explained some things about the phone, even showed him a few of the games and how to play.

The human had actually been surprised at the fact that Viktor didn't shy away from the touch.

It was a difficult but fun experience for Viktor, though he definitely wouldn't be one to catch onto this quickly.

He also wasn't sure how much he actually liked this device, even though this was just the first time he had even seen it. He had soon given it back to Axle, who took it and put it in his pocket.

"Do all humans use that to communicate?" Viktor asked and Axle nodded

"Yeah, for the most part" Axle said with a small hum

"Seems rather complicated" Viktor said softly "But I suppose I can see how much more convenient it is" He added, looking out the window after a moment "What was it about the man you were talking about?"

"Well, it was weird, we saw him around town a few times and then he came to my door not long after I spotted him again. Then I guess he went to Demi's as well, definitely a bit late" Axle said, rubbing the back of his neck

"I see..." Viktor said, looking away from the window and heading to the kitchen "What did he look like?"

"Uh... tall, actually almost the same height as me, short brown hair. Oh, the weird thing, minus the guy himself, was that he had these orange or amber colored eyes-" Axle started and saw Viktor tense at the mention of the eye color, which Axle didn't understand entirely, but the male's eyes were very different

"You ok?" He asked, following Viktor and seeing him nod

"Yes.. I knew someone, but it would be impossible for that to be the same person" Viktor stated, grabbing a bag of blood out of the fridge. He sunk his fangs into the bag and hummed a little tune as he drank from it.

Axle was fascinated by this and curiously looked at the fridge, noticing it was filled with bagged blood

"So, this is how you feed?" Axle asked

"Yes, hunting became too dangerous when there was a spike in vampire hunters, so I resorted to these" Viktor spoke after a moment, having drained the bag "These are also very convenient since I don't have to leave when I'm hungry" He shrugged

"Would you hunt if you get the chance again?" Axle asked curiously and Viktor shrugged again

"I'm not sure... The thrill was nice, but then it would be harder to stay hidden" Viktor stated, throwing away the bag and sighing a little

"Hmm... I see, I see... which would alert the vampire hunters?" Axle figured and Viktor nodded

"Exactly.. I prefer this peaceful life than constantly worrying" Viktor stated, but something outside caught his attention again "Axle... no one followed you, did they?"

"No, not that I noticed" Axle stated, looking out the window nearby "Why?"

"There's someone outside" Viktor huffed

"Well, maybe-"

"No... They've been here for awhile..." Viktor said, visibly getting more upset and then Axle pieced it together

"Is that what was bothering you yesterday too?" Axle asked and Viktor nodded

"Yes... Stay here" Viktor stated, turning out the lights and carefully inspecting around, until the door flew open and there was a figure standing in the doorway
