Impressions

I heard a small knock on my bedroom door as I drew my lips together, smoothing out my dress.

"Hey, baby, are you ready?" Shawn called from outside the door.

"Uh, yeah, almost!" I answered back as I put down the necklace I was trying on.

I stared at myself in the mirror, posing and checking over my outfit for what seemed like the hundredth time. I wanted to look my best because I was going to meet Shawn's parents tonight.

Shawn opened up the door and walked up behind me. I sighed and looked up at him through the mirror. He wrapped his arms around my waist from the back and kissed my neck.

"You look beautiful, don't worry," he whispered in my ear.

"I just want to make sure everything goes well because first impressions are the best impressions, and I just want them to like me, because if they don't I-"

"Relax, princess! They will love you just as much as I do!" He insisted as I relaxed in his arms.

"Promise?"

"Promise. Now lets go, you don't want them to be waiting too long! Then they might not like you."

"Shawn!" I whined.

He threw his hands up, "Kidding!"

Shawn picked me up bridal style and ran to the car. He opened up the door and I got in. He shut it, before hopping in the driver's seat and the two of us made our way to his house.

I sighed and rested my head against the window.

I felt Shawn look over at me. He sensed my nervousness and intertwined his free hand with mine, giving it a gentle squeeze.

The drive was quick and before I knew, it I was standing at their front door.

Shawn squeezed my hand again for reassurance and quickly kissed my cheek. His mom opened the door and let us in.

She greeted me with a warm smiled which put me at ease.

"Hi! You must be (y/n)! Shawn talks about you all the time!" I smiled, and looked over at Shawn, who was blushing.

"Its so nice to meet you!" I said.

"Okay well, Shawn, (y/n), why dont we go sit down?" She smiled at the two of us.

Shawn and I exchanged a glance and I knew it was going to be fine.

"See, they love you already," Shawn put his hand on my lower back, kissed my cheek once more, and we walked over together.
