Shawn's POV

"Baby girl, wake up, it's time for your first day," I hummed, making my way into my four-year old daughter's bedroom, her small body tucked under her pink, polka dot bedsheets.

"Baby," I whispered again, gently tapping her shoulder while she turned over, attempting to hide her smile.

"Ah, I see what's going on," I chuckled, "someone doesn't wanna go to school, yeah?"

She stayed silent, moving her arm over her mouth to hide her grin while I sat on the edge of her bed.

"Well, if someone doesn't get up now, they're going to get a visit from the tickle monster!" My hands went for her sides as she squealed, giggling loudly as (y/n) walked into the room.

"Hi, babies, what's going on here?" She hummed softly, pulling her hair up into a ponytail.

"Daddy's trying to get me to go to school!" She squealed, sitting up while I nodded.

"Come on, baby, let's go get ready," I turned my attention back to my daughter, taking her small hand in mine

I pulled off her pajamas as we stepped into the bathroom, watching as she played with her hair.

"Do you want to bring ducky into the bath?" I asked, running the water as she giggled, nodding her head.

After giving her a bath, I brought her back into her room, her wet hair slicked back, a small, fluffy, pink robe wrapped around her. She ran to her dresser, pulling out black leggings and a small pink shirt with flowers on it, waving it in my face.

"This!" She grinned, as I kneeled down, getting her dressed before seating her back on the bed, pulling her thin, brown hair into a ponytail.

"Let's go, baby," I hummed, her hand slipping into mine, the two of us walking down the stairs. (Y/n) gave each of us a kiss before we got in the car, making our way to the preschool.

The ride was fairly short, the little girl nervously asking numerous questions along the way.

"Alright," I mumbled as I pulled her out of her carseat, setting her down on the school floor, "are you gonna be a good girl and go to school today, baby?" I narrowed my eyes into hers as she nodded confidently.

"Daddy will be back soon to pick you up, okay?" I gave her hands a gentle squeeze as she nodded slowly, her lips drawn together as she stared at me.

"Okay."

"Good. Now, give Daddy a kiss," I shut my eyes as her lips met mine for a quick second.

"Bye, princess," I waved, as she made her way to the door of the colorful classroom.

She gave me a small wave and I blew her a kiss, before turning around and heading back to my car.

My phone rang in my pocket as I stopped, pulling it out, "Hello?"

"Hi, Mr. Mendes, we have a bit of a situation in the classroom, could you come back for a minute or two?" (Y/d/n)'s teacher said as I agreed.

I walked back into the building, my eyes immediately landing on another familiar brown pair. My little girl stood in the doorway, her hands folded together in front of her body.

Her eyes were filled with tears, her bottom lip trembling as she saw me, cheeks a bright red.

"Oh, come here, baby girl," I hummed, pulling her into my arms as she sobbed quietly into my shoulder.

"Shh, it's gonna be okay," I mumbled, back hand running soothingly along her back, "Daddy's here."

I set her back down on the carpeted floor of the classroom, lowering myself to her height, kissing her puffy, red cheek.

Reaching up to her face, I gently swiped the stream of tears off her soft skin with the pads of my thumbs, kissing her forehead.

"I know it's hard, baby, but I promise, Daddy will be back really, really soon to come get you," I nodded while she continued to rub her eyes.

"You're gonna have so much fun, princess," I tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear while she looked up at me, her eyes bloodshot red, her body shaking as she took in a deep breath, ridding of the tears.

"Don't cry, pumpkin, I'll be back, okay?" I nodded, cupping her small face in her hands, kissing her cheek.

"I promise I'll be here for you soon," I hugged her again, gently patting her bum as she giggled, "Now, go get 'em, baby."
