Darkness
That's all Cayde has ever seen since being trapped in the basement. No one ever came to visit or even feed him so to say he was starving was an understatement. His eyes were now pitch black in need of blood. Blood that they never gave him. Today he felt a shift in the air and he watched as his cell door opened up.
That was surprising in itself but what made it even more surprising was to see the child all of this was about."what are you doing down here" he questioned narrowing his eyes at the child
"You shouldn't be down here, it's not fair" she mumbled sitting down
Cayde couldn't help but laugh a little. "Life's not fair, I guess I got the short end of the stick."
Cayde didn't know what to feel for the kid. He has only met her once and even then they barely spoke."they are wrong about you, O saw the way your eyes showed your true emotion. You felt betrayed and not that I look into your eyes you feel nothing but hate" she spoke frowning "they broke you"
At her word he snapped." I'm not broke" he snarled baring his teeth. "How would you feel if your family turned there backs on you over and over again" he yelled tearing up. He couldn't believe he was broke. He just couldn't.
"Your right,I don't understand so make me" she mumbled watching sadly
Cayde sighed and settled back down."everyone has a fear, even the most ruthless of people do but for me it's more mundane " he explains holding out his hand towards the child who took it no questions asked. The world around them seem to change till a copy of Cayde was left on the ground surrounded by the cullens all sneering and growling at him yelling slurs
"This is your fear " she mumbled looking at the real Cayde who looked sad."you fear rejection and being alone,like you are now....the rejection of family" tears fell down her face as she realized just how the cullens brought his fear to a reality and couldn't help but loose some prospect for them. Her heart really did go out to her uncle
"It was a long time coming. In the end your fears always find you" Cayde explained before they were now situated back inside his cell
"That's not true, what they are doing is wrong and the witnesses think so do. I see the guilt the the family holds for this. There breaking-"
"If that was true I wanted be here now would it" he mumbled looking at the child softly. "Even if it was, I would never return to them. You can't undo what has been done" he adds slumping down to the ground" now leave before you get caught,I honestly don't want to hear them complain about me corrupting you "
He watched the girl get up to leave, just as she was about to open the door she turned around" do you really hate them as much as you say" she questioned
"With every fiber in my body" with that she was gone and Cayde was once again left to his thoughts. Thought that could be a scary place if left unchecked
