Chapter 4: Game Changer.

[Writer P.O.V.]

Louis heard footsteps in the corridor outside as he stood alone in the changing room in his kit. His stomach lurched over itself he was so nervous. He could hear Niall laughing hard - had Harry shown the boys the note? Were they joking about it? Louis thought he would die on the spot if his secret was exposed. As the laughter got closer Louis strained to hear that familiar low voice, but it never came.

Liam walked into view, then Niall, then Zayn.

‘Where’s Harreh?’ Louis blurted out.

‘He’s just taking a call mate’ walked past Liam, ‘he’ll be along in a minute.’

Louis felt his stomach fall through his body in relief and he broke out in a sweat. He had never been in this state over somebody walking around a fucking corner before.

‘Great night mate’ smiled Liam, getting changed.

‘Oh - yeah’ agreed Louis.

‘Did you manage to leave a note?’ asked Liam.

‘What?’

‘For Harry?’

‘Oh! Erm, yeah mate yeah. I haven’t seen him yet though.’

‘Well at least you’re closer to making the peace’ smiled Liam.

‘Come on then boys’ clapped Zayn, ‘game before breakfast!’ he ran out.

Niall followed, so Louis did too.

Liam was tying up his boots alone in the changing room when Harry ran around the corner.

‘I’m so sorry mate’ he whispered in a soft flustered voice, ‘my mom called me I had to take it’ he threw his kit down onto the bench and immediately proceeded to take his black wool coat off, ‘where is everyone?’

‘They’re out on the pitch mate.’

‘Everyone? Is Loueh here?’ stopped Harry.

‘Yes…’ Liam smirked in interest.

‘What?’ smiled Harry.

‘Louis asked if you were here too. Just a bit of a coincidence, that’s all’ shrugged Liam.

‘What happened last night?’ asked Harry, getting changed.

‘Mate, I’ve gotta tell you, Louis is a good guy’ Liam tried to relieve Harry of any fears he might have about arguments on the pitch today, ‘we had a bit of a word with him and he’s agreed to tone it down, and he’s really sorry about what happened. We ended up having a great time he’s actually really funny. Did you get his note?’

Harry froze in his bent-over position and stared at Liam for a long minute.

‘Harry? Did he leave you a note?’ asked Liam again.

‘Erm… yeah’ blinked Harry.

‘What did it say?’

‘That…’ Harry stood up and pondered to the sky as he battled with the prickles rushing across his skin, ‘…he was sorry and that he wanted to talk to me’ he said carefully.

‘Good. Come on!’ Liam ran out.

Harry collapsed on the bench exhaustedly from his nerves. He had never been in such a state over a note from a boy before.

Liam ran out onto the pitch. The other three boys were already kicking a ball about. Harry walked to the edge of the grass in his kit (and hair bun) and stopped. Louis was bantering with the boys in the distance and seemed to be in a good mood. Harry thought maybe the note was just a joke? He looked at Louis in his kit and hadn’t noticed how toned Louis was before - his legs were great and his body was tight. Louis also had a bright smile when he laughed and he laughed quite a lot. Harry hadn’t noticed that before either. Did this sassy, fit boy really think Harry had a beautiful smile? Harry felt himself twitching between the legs and sighed in frustration as he tried to supress his thoughts - this was not a good time to get an erection - but he couldn’t help but remember the words on the note from last night: “I think you have a beautiful smile… I’d like to talk to you”. Harry looked out onto the pitch and disappointingly realised that the moment to “talk” had probably passed. It was not the right moment now because boys were running about everywhere ready for a match, he should have gone searching last night, in the heat of the moment, to ask Lou what he meant by his sweet words. Arousal gone, Harry staggered onto the pitch and ran up to the boys.
