"How about this one?" Mike asked. It was currently lunch time and the four friends were looking around for rocks that Lucas can use for his wrist-rocket. Alex was out of earshot from the boys, looking for rocks while they huddled together.

"Too big for the sling," Dustin said, shaking his head at the rock Mike held up. "So, do you think both Al and Eleven was born with their powers, like the X-Men, or do you think they acquired them, like, like Green Lantern?"

"She's not a superhero and neither is Al," Lucas said, "they're both weirdos."

"Why does that matter?" Mike asked, getting slightly defensive, "the X-Men are weirdos."

"If you love Al so much, why don't you marry her?" Lucas asked, making Mike look over at him.

"What are you talking about?" Mike asked, hoping that Alex wouldn't hear. Alex glanced up and saw the boys were talking about something, and she wanted to know.

"Mike, seriously?" Lucas asked, looking at his best friend like he was stupid. Alex inched closer so she could listen in.

"What?" Mike asked.

"You're in love with her!" Alex's heart dropped as she glanced up at the boys before walking a little bit further back.

"You look at her all, like, "Hi, Al! Al! Al! Al! I love you so much! You're so perfect! Would you marry me?"

"Shut up, Lucas," Mike said, going pink.

"Yeah, shut up, Lucas," Troy said, earning the attention of Alex. The blonde looked up and hurried over to her friends. "What are you losers doing back here?"

"Probably looking for their missing friend," James added as Alex rolled her eyes.

"That's not funny," Dustin said as Alex stood next to Mike, her face holding no emotion. "It's serious. He's in danger."

"I hate to break it to you, Toothless," Troy said, "but he's not in danger. He's dead." Alex clenched her jaw and her fists as she stared at the two boys. "That's what my dad says. He said he was probably killed by some other queer." They both laughed and Mike saw Alex's hands were slowly turning red.

"Alex," he said, taking her hand in his and calming her down slightly. She looked up at him and smiled as the red mist vanished and Mike let go of her hand. "Come on. Just ignore them." Troy and James both laughed at Mike and when they walked away, they tripped him up and caused Mike to fall over and split his chin open.

"Oh my god Mike!" Alex said running to him and crouching beside him.

"Watch where you're going, Frogface," Troy said before they both walked away.

"You all right?" Lucas asked as Alex helped him up.

"Yeah," Mike said as Alex looked at him.

"Hey," Dustin said as he bent down and picked up the rock that cut Mike's chin. "How about this one?"

"Yeah," Mike said, looking at it.

"Yeah?" Dustin asked as Alex smiled.

"Yeah, this is it," Mike said as Alex chuckled.

"This is it," Alex said, looking at the rock.

"Yeah, this is the monster killer!" Lucas said as they all laughed.

"Mike, you need to clean your cut up," Alex said, looking up at him slightly.

"Oh," Mike said, "It's fine."
