When Alastor and Emagine leave for their walks, the shadows are left at home. They are simply a summon away, so it's not much of a trouble to let them stay home.
Let's check on them, shall we?

Shadow was giggling silently to herself. She was lurking around the dark parts of Alastor's room. She was hiding from Xozzen. She just called him X.
Alastor never used X's real name. Shadow wasn't sure why, but she didn't think on it too much. While they couldn't communicate with their masters (or mama, as Shadow calls Emagine. X just calls Alastor master) they could communicate with themselves. Just like how the demons did.
She heard X humming as he approached Alastor's room. He already knew where she was, and was going to surprise her.
Shadow stifled a laugh, but before she could even expect it, X popped up behind her and she let out a shrill noise. Xozzen wrapped himself around her like a snake and nuzzled himself just under her jaw.
Before Shadow he had never met another being like him, and it was always just him and his master. And while he loved his master, their relationship was... complicated.
Unlike demons, the shadow species was more like dogs or cats in their mannerisms such as mating and friendships. Xozzen knew as soon as he laid his sights on Shadow that they would be mates.
As X purred softly under her chin, Shadow simply giggled (a very haunting sound to anyone outside their species, but X loved it)
They played for hours, just chasing each other, occasionally stopping to cuddle together before continuing their game.
Shadow never felt more comfortable than when she was with X. He made her feel safe. X had noticed immediately that she was... different than him. She was timid and scared where's X wasn't really scared of anything, not by his masters side. But after seeing Shadow's master he kind of understood.
They were inseparable, and even though they didn't know it, this revealed their masters' fates for one another.
