Breaking the Rocks

I felt so exhausted after learning the truth. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang susunod na gagawin dahil tulala ako at hinihintay na makausap si Trisha. I am still in the hospital. Si Landon ay katabi ngayon ni Marcus na galit pa rin dahil sa nangyari. Galit siya kasi may ibang nakaalam. Galit siya kasi natalo siya. Galit siya because the favors did not return to him.

Kasama namin ang mga magulang ni Trisha ngayon. I had talked to them and asked for forgiveness because I couldn't save Trisha. Kahit na bali-baliktarin man ang mundo, alam kong may kasalanan pa rin ako. I was the one who's running after her.

Nang lumabas ang doktor mula sa pagch-check kay Trisha ay agad kaming tumayo. The doctor told us that Trisha told him that she's feeling a bit better. Masakit pa rin ang katawan at nag-aalala sa baby sa kaniyang tiyan. But she said that after knowing her child is safe, she let out a huge sigh.

Nakahinga ako nang malalim. Ayaw kong umalis dito nang hindi sinasabi sa kaniya ang lahat. Hiniling ko sa parents niya na kung sana ay makausap ko siya. They agreed and let me enter her room.

"Hi," bati ko matapos kong maisara ang pinto.

Tumingin sa akin si Trisha. Puno ng pagtatanong ang kaniyang mukha. She must be wondering why I am here. Dapat nga siguro ay hindi na ako nagpakita but I couldn't.

"You must be wondering why I'm her." Pumunta ako sa gilid niya. My eyes were filled with disappointment as I stared at some of the wounds on her face. Nagasgasan ang halos kalahati ng kaniyang mukha. Higit pa roon, may ilan ring nangingitim.

"How are you?" I asked her.

"I'm fine." May kahinaan ang kaniyang boses. Tumango ako at tipid na ngumiti.

"I'm just here to tell you that I did not lie about Marcus. Sana paniwalaan mo ako. I may have been obsessed with him from the past but I was over it. I do not intend to lie to you or make up stories just to break you up. I am married to Exodus and I intend to stay with my husband, maniwala ka man o hindi. I am happy with Exodus, happier than I ever was when I was chasing Marcus."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"Kasi gusto kong sa akin mismo manggaling iyon. We had already confronted Marcus about it at sa totoo lang, ayaw ko munang sabihin sa iyo dahil alam kong masakit. I'm not sure if it will affect your recovery."

Iniwas niya ang tingin sa akin. "It's okay. You can tell me."

Namilog ang aking mga mata. "You're going to listen to me now?"

Mahina siyang tumango. I cleared my throat. "I visited the mall a bit far from the Metro. And that's where I saw Arunika and Marcus. Kahit ako ay hindi makapaniwala kaya naman nagduda ako kung talaga bang magagawa iyon ni Marcus sa iyo. I had him followed without telling anyone first until I made sure that he was really cheating on you. I'm sorry. Hindi ko na nga dapat karapatan na gawin iyon but I couldn't stand the idea that Marcus was cheating on you at...ako lang ang nakakaalam. I told Ayana about it kaya kasama ko siya noon dahil sigurado akong hindi mo ako paniniwalaan."

"Yet, I was blinded with anger towards you," dugtong niya at malungkot na ngumiti. "I should have known, Muriel. Sa totoo lang ay may pagdududa na ako kay Marcus bago mo pa sabihin iyon. I had announced my pregnancy to everyone and he had seemed confused and lost. I was lonely you know? Because I felt like he didn't want the baby. I felt like he was avoiding me and he was cold."

Namula ang mga mata ni Trisha. One tear escaping from her eyes was enough for me to feel her pain. Imagine being betrayed by someone you loved. Imagine being betrayed by someone whom you thought you could spend the rest of your life with.
